Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We welcome you to the First International Conference on Arts and Technology (ArtsIT 2009), hosted by CSIE of the National Ilan University and co-organized by the National Science Council, ICST, College of EECS at National Ilan University, Software Simulation Society in Taiwan, ISAC, TCA, NCHC, CREATE-NET, and Institute for Information Industry. ArtsIT2009 was held in Yilan, Taiwan, during September 24–25, 2009. The conference comprised the following themes: • New Media Technologies (Evolutionary systems that create arts or display art works, such as tracking sensors, wearable computers, mixed reality, etc. ) • Software Art (Image processing or computer graphics techniques that create arts, including algorithmic art, mathematic art, advanced modeling and rend- ing, etc. ) • Animation Techniques (2D or 3D computer animations, AI-based animations, etc. ) • Multimedia (Integration of different media, such as virtual reality systems, audio, performing arts, etc. ) • Interactive Methods (Vision-based tracking and recognition, interactive art, etc. ) The conference program started with an opening ceremony, followed by three keynote speeches and four technical sessions distributed over a period of two days. Two poster sessions, one hour each, were scheduled before the afternoon oral sessions. An Int- active Arts Exhibition was held in conjunction with ArtsIT 2009. Twelve well-known digital arts teams from Taiwan exhibited 15 artworks in this event, including 10 int- active installation arts, 4 video arts, and 1 digital print. The conference received around 50 submissions from 15 different countries.
Book Synopsis A Path to the Next Generation of U.S. Banknotes by : National Research Council
Download or read book A Path to the Next Generation of U.S. Banknotes written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2007-08-26 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid pace at which digital printing is advancing is posing a very serious challenge to the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Bureau of Printing (BEP). The BEP needs to stay ahead of the evolving counterfeiting threats to U.S. currency. To help meet that challenge, A Path to the Next Generation of U.S. Banknotes provides an assessment of technologies and methods to produce designs that enhance the security of U.S. Federal Reserve notes (FRNs). This book presents the results of a systematic investigation of the trends in digital imaging and printing and how they enable emerging counterfeiting threats. It also provides the identification and analysis of new features of FRNs that could provide effective countermeasures to these threats and an overview of a requirements-driven development process that could be adapted to develop an advanced-generation currency.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sincerely welcome to proceedings of the 1st International Conference on Trust and Privacy in Digital Business, Zaragoza, Spain, held from August 30th to September 1st, 2004. This conference was an outgrowth of the two successful TrustBus inter- tional workshops, held in 2002 and 2003 in conjunction with the DEXA conferences in Aix-en-Provence and in Prague. Being the first of a planned series of successful conferences it was our goal that this event would initiate a forum to bring together researchers from academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the state of the art of technology for establishing trust and privacy in digital business. We thank you all the attendees for coming to Zaragoza to participate and debate the new emerging advances in this area. The conference program consisted of one invited talk and nine regular technical papers sessions. The invited talk and keynote speech was delivered by Ahmed Patel from the Computer Networks and Distributed Systems Research Group, University College Dublin, Ireland on “Developing Secure, Trusted and Auditable Services for E-Business: An Autonomic Computing Approach”. A paper covering his talk is also contained in this book. The regular paper sessions covered a broad range of topics, from access control - sues to electronic voting, from trust and protocols to digital rights management. The conference attracted close to 100 submissions of which the program committee - cepted 29 papers for presentation and inclusion in the conference proceedings.
