Download or read book Operations Research in Development Sector written by Arabinda Tripathy and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes the underlying theoretical principles of multi-objective linear programming problems with multi-choice parameters. It studies transportation problems on the same domain with extension to fuzzy stochastic criteria, and offers insights into sensitivity analysis through symmetric duality and complementarity using non-convex programming. These analytical presentations provide ample scope for researchers to contemplate real-world problems with an innovative vision. The formulation, analysis and solution procedures on inventory control models in the book use both deterministic and fuzzy parameters, and provide novel optimal inventory policies. The book discusses a wide range of optimal operational techniques for policy makers, government and private agencies in the fields of e-governance and agricultural crop insurance, which are crucial for developing countries. The recommendations address the gaps and remedies in various schemes that influence decision-making in the context of the economic development of such countries.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This invaluable book provides an account of Operational Research in Britain, the country of its inception, from the late 1930s to 1970. Originating in response to the country's air defence needs against the Luftwaffe, Operational Research had outstanding achievements as part of the 'secret war' against Nazi Germany. After 1945, the discipline began to be adopted in an increasing range of industries and services. In the 1960s -- by which time it was being incorporated in to university curricula -- the discipline began to penetrate into civil government departments. The history of Operational Research provides unique insights into the conduct of modern warfare, the professionalisation of business management and the modernisation of the civil service. The chronological coverage, from the late 1930s to 1970, coincides with 'golden age' of Operational Research, when the discipline was presented as a means of achieving optimum solutions to complex managerial problems. The book will be of interest to military and business historians, as well as to historians of public administration and higher education.

This book was released on 2020 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper examines the development of developing or developed countries with the use of operation research's tools and tactics. The educational and institutional aspects of Operation research are also examined and a discussion has been done of the methodological aspects of Operation research that work in under developed or developing countries Not only this but also the relation of operation research and Information Technology has been proved to be complementary to each other in this paper. Operations research is an advisory function and a structured approach to problem solving. Operations research use computers as tools to develop, modify, or update models. Operations research analysts use higher mathematics and computer programs to solve problems. They may develop and modify computer programs to use as tools in analyses. Analysts identify changes in real-world systems, decide how to mathematically represent them in simulations, and change computer programs accordingly the management. The primary knowledge applied is of modeling techniques and the subject matter of the simulation. Computer knowledge is secondary. This paper sketches the evolution of operation research as a scientific discipline in the international context i.e. the transformation of society to a developed society, since operation research techniques facilitate the planning and implementation of several projects/activities/policies with the help of information technology. Operations research analysts study financial and resource problems using the scientific approach and a variety of mathematical and statistical techniques.
