Download or read book Drugs, War and the Cia written by Warren K. Parker and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-02-27 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes the true story of one man, caught up in the secret war in Cambodia, Laos, and North Vietnam and even into Southern China. The fighting was hard, with no quarter given by either side, men died without anyone knowing their true names, just code names. It describes in detail how the Central Intelligent Agency (CIA) paid for this secret war, without receiving money approbated from our US Congress. Drugs were a way to the end, as time went on the CIA became the largest drug dealers in the world. Shipment of Herion to the United States was on weekly basis with their own private Airlines called Air America, Continental Air, Bird and Son airline, Arizona helicopters and many more small airlines owned by the CIA, nick name for these airlines was called Opium Air by the men that saw what was happening. The CIA went so far as to ship drugs to South Vietnam to be sold to our own troops on the ground. It is documented there were on the average two deaths from overdosing of drugs by our military per day. There were untold numbers that died in combat for being high on the CIA supplied drugs and untold numbers that died when they came home. This book details the story of some of the greatest fighters and pilots in the world gathered in these small countries. The CIAs had their own mercenary army made up of Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, English, French, South Koreans, Hmong and Cambodians . Unlike the war being fought in South Vietnam where there were rules of engagement, in this secret war there were no rules anything went whether it be the use of poison gas, biological weapons or the paying of bountys for body parts of the enemy whether it was men, women or even children. There were total disregard for the Geneva Convention which the US was a signature to. Everyone there was using expanding bullets in their weapons. Our own CIA were above reproach, no one would challenge them, they were much worse than the enemy we were fighting. The death and destruction still remain in Laos. With unexploded bombs and vast mine fields, that were never mapped and recorded. The sad thing, I was part of what happened and like all of the others, never spoke up.

Book Synopsis Forest Plans of North America by : Jacek P. Siry
Download or read book Forest Plans of North America written by Jacek P. Siry and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2015-03-13 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forest Plans of North America presents case studies of contemporary forest management plans developed for forests owned by federal, state, county, and municipal governments, communities, families, individuals, industry, investment organizations, conservation organizations, and others in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The book provides excellent real-life examples of contemporary forest planning processes, the various methods used, and the diversity of objectives and constraints faced by forest owners. Chapters are written by those who have developed the plans, with each contribution following a unified format and allowing a common, clear presentation of the material, along with consistent treatment of various aspects of the plans. This work complements other books published by members of the same editorial team (Forest Management and Planning, Introduction to Forestry and Natural Resource Management), which describe the planning process and the various methods one might use to develop a plan, but in general do not, as this work does, illustrate what has specifically been developed by landowners and land managers. This is an in-depth compilation of case studies on the development of forest management plans by the different landowner groups in North America. The book offers students, practitioners, policy makers, and the general public an opportunity to greatly improve their appreciation of forest management and, more importantly, foster an understanding of why our forests today are what they are and what forces and tools may shape their tomorrow. Forest Plans of North America provides a solid supplement to those texts that are used as learning tools for forest management courses. In addition, the work functions as a reference for the types of processes used and issues addressed in the early 21st century for managing land resources. - Presents 40-50 case studies of forest plans developed for a wide variety of organizations, groups, and landowners in North America - Illustrates plans that have specifically been developed by landowners and land managers - Features engaging, clearly written content that is accessible rather than highly technical, while demonstrating the issues and methods involved in the development of the plans - Each chapter contains color photographs, maps, and figures
Download or read book Operation Höss written by Ian Baxter and published by Pen and Sword Military. This book was released on 2022-12-29 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operation Höss or Aktion Höss was the codename for the mass deportation of Hungarian Jews and their murder in the gas chambers of Birkenau extermination camp. Between 14 May and 9 July 1944, 420,000 Jews were sent to Auschwitz from Hungary, or about 12,000 per day. On arrival some twenty-five percent were selected for forced labor while the remainder were immediately gassed. The name of this atrocity came from Rudolf Höss, who returned as the commandant of Auschwitz to increase the killing capacity and ensure the smooth running of the operation. The specially built railway line into Birkenau from Auschwitz made transports to the camp more efficient enabling the SS to increase the daily killing capacity. After the war, SS Adolf Eichmann, who had organized the deportations from Hungary, boasted that Operation Höss was `an achievement never matched before or since`. This shocking book tells the story of this inhuman venture from its conception and planning, and though to the bitter, tragic end.
Book Synopsis M3 & M5 Stuart Light Tank 1940–45 by : Steven J. Zaloga
Download or read book M3 & M5 Stuart Light Tank 1940–45 written by Steven J. Zaloga and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-04-28 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The M3 and M5 family of light tanks were the culmination of American tank development of the 1930s. By the time of the outbreak of the World War II, they were approaching obsolescence, as tank forces in Europe were shifting from light to medium tanks as the main element of their armored forces. First entering combat in the autumn of 1941 in the Western Desert with the British Army, the Stuart quickly proved its inadequacies. The M3 and M5 light tanks proved more suitable in the Pacific theater than in Europe, and fought successfully in many of the major battles including Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Peleliu. This title narrates this distinctive and unusual fighting vehicle's history.

This book seeks to redress the balance of existing literature which tends towards a narrow focus on the protagonists of fascism rather than opponents. Anti-fascism in Britain defines anti-fascism in broad terms and offers both a comprehensive and absorbing historical overview that begins with opposition to the precursors of Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists in the 1920s and ends with anti-fascism in the present day.

Download or read book White Freedom written by Tyler Stovall and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2022-08-23 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The racist legacy behind the Western idea of freedom The era of the Enlightenment, which gave rise to our modern conceptions of freedom and democracy, was also the height of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. America, a nation founded on the principle of liberty, is also a nation built on African slavery, Native American genocide, and systematic racial discrimination. White Freedom traces the complex relationship between freedom and race from the eighteenth century to today, revealing how being free has meant being white. Tyler Stovall explores the intertwined histories of racism and freedom in France and the United States, the two leading nations that have claimed liberty as the heart of their national identities. He explores how French and American thinkers defined freedom in racial terms and conceived of liberty as an aspect and privilege of whiteness. He discusses how the Statue of Liberty—a gift from France to the United States and perhaps the most famous symbol of freedom on Earth—promised both freedom and whiteness to European immigrants. Taking readers from the Age of Revolution to today, Stovall challenges the notion that racism is somehow a paradox or contradiction within the democratic tradition, demonstrating how white identity is intrinsic to Western ideas about liberty. Throughout the history of modern Western liberal democracy, freedom has long been white freedom. A major work of scholarship that is certain to draw a wide readership and transform contemporary debates, White Freedom provides vital new perspectives on the inherent racism behind our most cherished beliefs about freedom, liberty, and human rights.

Book Synopsis Losing Binh Dinh by : Kevin M. Boylan
Download or read book Losing Binh Dinh written by Kevin M. Boylan and published by University Press of Kansas. This book was released on 2016-12-12 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Americans have fought two prolonged battles over Vietnam—one in southeast Asia and one, ongoing even now, at home—over whether the war was unnecessary, unjust, and unwinnable. Revisionist historians who reject this view have formulated many contra-factual scenarios for how the war might have been won, but also put forward one historically testable hypothesis—namely that the war actually was won after the 1968 Tet Offensive, only to be thrown away later through a failure of political will. It is this “Lost Victory” hypothesis that Kevin M. Boylan takes up in Losing Binh Dinh, aiming to determine once and for all whether the historical record supports such a claim. Proponents of the “Lost Victory” thesis contend that by 1972, President Richard Nixon's policy of “Vietnamization” had effectively eliminated South Vietnamese insurgents, “pacified” the countryside, and prepared the South Vietnamese to defend their own territory with only logistical and financial support from Americans. Rejecting the top-down approach favored by Revisionists, Boylan examines the facts on the ground in Binh Dinh, a strategically vital province that was the second most populous in South Vietnam, controlled key transportation routes, and contained one of the nation's few major seaports as well as the huge US Air Force base at Phu Cat. Taking an in-depth look at operations that were conducted in the province, Boylan is able to uncover the fundamental flaw in the dual objectives of “Vietnamization” and “Pacification”—namely, that they were mutually exclusive. The inefficiency and corruption of the South Vietnamese government and armed forces was so crippling that progress in pacification occurred only when Americans took the lead—which, in turn, left the South Vietnamese even more dependent on US support.
Download or read book Hysterectomy written by Ibrahim Alkatout and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-14 with total page 1595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book initiates the descriptions of the practical performance of different hysterectomies with conventional and robotically assisted laparoscopy, laparotomy and vaginal surgery. Laparoscopic hysterectomy has been out as an additional technique for hysterectomies for the last couple of decades. As the necessary light, augmentation and advanced skill has only been introduced into this already 200 year old surgical procedure within the last few decades by laparoscopy, the editors aim to look at the laparoscopic procedures followed by the traditional techniques of hysterectomy with laparotomy and vaginal surgery.
