Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From master storyteller J. Randy Taraborrelli comes the powerful and moving story of one of royalty's most secretive families. Grace Kelly was swept away when the handsome Prince Rainier, a man she barely knew, asked for her hand in marriage. After a series of relationships with married co-stars, she was exhausted by the show-business lifestyle. If she married Rainier, she would be more than just a movie star, she would be Her Serene RoyalHighness Princess Grace. Once in the palace, however, Grace found herself trapped in a fairy tale of her own making. Forced to make sacrifices that cut deeply into the core of who she was as a woman, she would then surrender her desires and ambitions for her spouse and her children. Grace and Rainier may have been royalty, but they were also husband and wife, and parents- and, as such, just as vulnerable to the conflicts that can contaminate any household. Drawing upon hundreds of exclusive interviews with family and friends, ONCE UPON A TIME portrays its subjects with passion and sympathy, revealing Grace, Rainier, Caroline, Albert, and Stephanie in ways both startling and compelling.

Book excerpt: New York City's Broadway district is by far the most prestigious and lucrative venue for American performers, playwrights, entertainers and technicians. While there are many reference works and critical studies of selected Broadway plays or musicals and even more works about the highlights of the American theater, this is the first single-volume book to cover all of the activities on Broadway between 1919 and 2007. More than 14,000 productions are briefly described, including hundreds of plays, musicals, revivals, and specialty programs. Entries include famous and forgotten works, designed to give a complete picture of Broadway's history and development, its evolution since the early twentieth century, and its rise to unparalleled prominence in the world of American theater. The productions are identified in terms of plot, cast, personnel, critical reaction, and significance in the history of New York theater and culture. In addition to a chronological list of all Broadway productions between 1919 and 2007, the book also includes approximately 600 important productions performed on Broadway before 1919.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are some parts of life in the United States that are very important for what they are mandated and supposed to do, and this book is written to describe how the life and career of an individual from an agricultural background that goes back to childhood and who was somewhat guided and highly self-motivated to serve within this area interacts with the bureaucracy at all levels of state educational institutions and the richly financially invested programs of the federal government through the US Department of Agriculture. He did not write this as a negative endeavor but as a viewable summary of worthwhile accomplishments that may or may not have been institutionalized by anyone except the author. There are family ancestral lineages that are listed that may include the name of any person in the lifetime of the author that will never be told, and maybe if that person hears of or reads this book, he will be motivated to tell the story of his family and his career, and it too will become a part of told USA history. Additionally, the writer believes this text at personal and professional levels may be of interest to the vast organizations listed above whose staff interact daily with people such as the author but only know their single area of responsibility. There are also incidents in the author’s life that are listed and implied that would have caused major problems if there had not been the support of people who acted as if they owed my ancestors some type of debt. However, the author acted in his career like he worked at the “number 1” institution in the USA and performed projects and sent students on global journeys to increase their family and career success. There were times when the author’s opportunities seemed to be conflicted with general institutional and agency leadership, and most of these times, they were no different from what was being done at other similar locations, but with which way would the recognition start and flow.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John F. Kennedy carried on a lifelong love affair with England and the English. From his speaking style to his tastes in art, architecture, theater, music, and clothes, his personality reflected his deep affinity for a certain kind of idealized Englishness. In Union Jack, noted biographer Christopher Sandford tracks KennedyÕs exploits in Great Britain between 1935 and 1963, and looks in-depth at the unique way Britain shaped JFK throughout his adult life and how JFK charmed British society. This mutual affinity took place against a backdrop of some of the twentieth centuryÕs most profound events: The Great Depression, BritainÕs appeasement of Hitler, the Second World War, the reconstruction of Western Europe, the development and rapid proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and the ideological schism between East and West. Based on extensive archival work as well as firsthand accounts from former British acquaintances, including old girlfriends, Union Jack charts two paths in the life of JFK. The first is his deliberate, long-term struggle to escape the shadow of his father, Joseph Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain. The second is the emergence of a peculiarly American personality whose consistently pro-British, rallying rhetoric was rivaled only by Winston Churchill. By explaining JFKÕs special relationship with Great Britain, Union Jack offers a unique and enduring portrait of another side of this historic figure in the centennial year of his birth.
