Book Synopsis Unified Strength Theory and Its Applications by : Mao-Hong Yu
Download or read book Unified Strength Theory and Its Applications written by Mao-Hong Yu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book thoroughly describes a theory concerning the yield and failure of materials under multi-axial stresses – the Unified Strength Theory, which was first proposed by the author and has been frequently quoted since. It provides a system of yield and failure criteria adopted for most materials, from metals to rocks, concretes, soils, and polymers. This new edition includes six additional chapters: General behavior of Strength theory function; Visualization of the Unified Strength Theory; Equivalent Stress of the UST and Comparisons with other criteria; Economic Signification of the UST; General form of failure criterion; Beauty of Strength Theories. It is intended for researchers and graduate students in various fields, including engineering mechanics, material mechanics, plasticity, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, mechanics of metallic materials and civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, mechanical engineering and military engineering.

Book Synopsis Mechanical Behavior of Anisotropic Solids / Comportment Méchanique des Solides Anisotropes by : J.P. Boehler
Download or read book Mechanical Behavior of Anisotropic Solids / Comportment Méchanique des Solides Anisotropes written by J.P. Boehler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 926 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1978, the European Mechanics Committee and the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique agreed to the organization of an Interna tional Colloquium on the "Mechanical Behavior of Anisotropic Solids". The meeting was held at Villard-de-Lans (near Grenoble, France) from 19th to 22 nd June 1979. The Colloquium considered mechanical aspects of the anisotropy of solids, both initial and induced by permanent deformation, anisotropic hardening and damage, oriented fissuration, etc. Topics concerned mathematical, experimental and engineering aspects of the anisotropy of metals, composites, soils and rocks. The aim of the Colloquium was to bring together experimentalists, theoretecians and engineers interested in various features of mechanical anisotropy, in order to permit an interdisciplinary exchange of understanding, experience and methods. A detailed description of the scope, aim and proposed topics is contained in the Preface. The announcement of the Colloquium attracted a large number of sub mitted contributions. Conforming with the principles of Euromech Colloquia and of the Colloques Internationaux du CNRS, the accepted contributions were limited to 50 communications. A general description of the scientific program is to be found in the Preface. Five general lectures gave state-of-the-art reports concerning some areas of the behavior of anisotropic solids; the 50 communications were divided into 12 sessions dealing with specific topics (see "Contents"). In order to facilitate subsequent contact between the reader and the contributors, full addresses are given in the "List of Authors."
Book Synopsis Introduction to Unified Strength Theory by : Mao-Hong Yu
Download or read book Introduction to Unified Strength Theory written by Mao-Hong Yu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-05-15 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strength theory deals with the yield or failure of materials under complex stress state. It is very important in mechanics of materials, strength of structures, and mechanical and civil engineering. Unified strength theory is a series of yield criteria and failure criteria other than a single strength theory. The unified strength theory can be adopted for various kinds of materials, such as metallic materials, geomaterials, polymers etc. It is the solution to the Voigt-Timoshenko Conundrum. Its limit surfaces cover all regions of the convex strength theory from the lower bound to the upper bound. This book gives a clear and brief description about the unified strength theory both in figures and text. Some applications of unified strength theory are also given in this book. This book is suitable for undergraduate students, who are studying the mechanics of materials and engineering mechanics, as well as for graduate students who are interested in this field. Researchers and engineers can also benefit from this book.
Book Synopsis Advanced Theories for Deformation, Damage and Failure in Materials by : Holm Altenbach
Download or read book Advanced Theories for Deformation, Damage and Failure in Materials written by Holm Altenbach and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-31 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book introduces advanced theories for deformation, damage, and failure in materials. The overall continuum mechanical framework was marked out and added by creep and damage mechanics of materials at elevated temperatures. The time-dependent and time-independent models of cyclic plasticity for low cycle and thermomechanical fatigue life assessment were specified in a very special manner: instead of three-dimensional statements, only one-dimensional rheological models were discussed. Anisotropic plasticity during non-proportional loading and anisotropy of yield/failure criteria is more and more important in modern applications. It is showing how the limit states of materials can be estimated. In addition, the damage and failure of composite materials demonstrate the possibility to extend continuum mechanics to continuum damage mechanics of composite materials.
Book Synopsis Mechanics of Anisotropic Materials by : Jacek J. Skrzypek
Download or read book Mechanics of Anisotropic Materials written by Jacek J. Skrzypek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-09 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is focused on constitutive description of mechanical behaviour of engineering materials: both conventional (polycrystalline homogeneous isotropic or anisotropic metallic materials) and non-conventional (heterogeneous multicomponent anisotropic composite materials). Effective material properties at the macro-level depend on both the material microstructure (originally isotropic or anisotropic) as well as dissipative phenomena occurred on fabrication and consecutive loading phase (hardening) resulting in irreversible microstructure changes (acquired anisotropy). The material symmetry is a background and anisotropy is a core around which the book is formed. In this way a revision of classical rules of enhanced constitutive description of materials is required.
Book Synopsis From Bulk to Structural Failure: Fracture of Hyperelastic Materials by : Philipp Laurens Rosendahl
Download or read book From Bulk to Structural Failure: Fracture of Hyperelastic Materials written by Philipp Laurens Rosendahl and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigates the fracture of nearly incompressible hyperelastic media. It covers the different characteristics of bulk material failure under dilatational or distortional loads and develops a unified description of the corresponding failure surface. It proposes a coupled strain and energy failure criterion for the assessment of notch-induced crack nucleation and presents a weak-interface-model that allows for efficient stress, strain and failure analyses of hyperelastic adhesive lap joints. Theoretical concepts for the measurement of fracture properties of nonlinear elastic materials are provided. The methodology is developed using two exemplary hyperelastic silicones, DOWSIL 993 Structural Glazing Sealant and DOWSIL Transparent Structural Silicone Adhesive, and is validated using large sets of experiments of different loading conditions.
