This publication is divided into two parts that examine the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) in tourism networks from the perspectives of both tourist-receiving and tourist-sending countries. The report considers the effectiveness of existing international campaigns, identifies critical areas involving the tourism industry and makes recommendations for the prevention of this exploitation in the short and long term. It also includes a number of recommendations of how the tourism industry can work, both in collaboration with other stakeholders and within its own sectors, to end CSEC in tourism.

Download or read book The End of Child Labour written by and published by International Labor Office. This book was released on 2006 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive view of the progress made in eradicating child labor. Intriguingly, the evidence indicates that a future without child labor may at last be within our grasp. The study offers new global estimates and highlights trends and areas where the international community is turning the tide. It is clear, however, that a strong and sustained global movement is still needed to ensure that the scourge of child labor will be eliminated. The book explores key policy issues and the global challenges presented by mainstreaming child labor into broader development frameworks, the special plight of Africa, and ways to strengthen the worldwide movement. It presents an action plan that demonstrates how combating child labor, combined with other efforts, can achieve basic changes in human rights and human security.

Book excerpt: The sex trade is a multibillion dollar international industry, which in many countries fuels the expansion of tourism and is a significant source of foreign exchange earnings. The commercial sexual exploitation of children assumes many forms, and organised criminal networks can involve a long chain of people linking a child to an abuser sometimes thousands of miles away, through intermediaries all of whom profit in some way. This report, a tribute to the courage of the many children affected by this inhuman trade, presents the words and experiences of children who have suffered from this exploitation, as well as the views of individuals and organisations working to ending it.
