Ce travail présente une étude sur l'évaluation de l'observance pendant la chimiothérapie des enfants leucémiques aux soins de bouche. Ces soins ont été mis en oeuvre pour lutter contre les mucites causées par les thérapeutiques. Trente-huit enfants âgés de deux à dix-huit ans atteints de leucémie aiguë lymphoblastique ont été évalués. Les différents critères de jugements étaient: examens clinique initial et hebdomadaires, surveillance de l'observance aux soins de bouche par le personnel à l'insu de l'enfant et analyse bactériologique de la flore buccale. Il ressort de cette étude descriptive que l'observance générale aux soins de bouche est globalement satisfaisante (de 80,4 à 92,9% d'observance selon les produits), mais elle reste insuffisante pour la Fungizone (67,44%). Les résultats montrent également qu'une bonne hygiène bucco dentaire initiale influe positivement sur l'observance pendant la chimiothérapie. L'analyse des données de cette étude permet de s'orienter vers la poursuite d'études sur le sujet afin d'améliorer les protocoles et d'étudier enfin l'efficacité de ces soins de bouche en éliminant le biais de l'inobservance.
