Book Synopsis Authority, Continuity and Change in Islamic Law by : Wael B. Hallaq
Download or read book Authority, Continuity and Change in Islamic Law written by Wael B. Hallaq and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2001-07-02 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wael B. Hallaq is regarded as one of the leading scholars in the field of Islamic law. In a path-breaking new book, the author shows how authority guaranteed both continuity and change in Islamic law. While the role of the law schools in augmenting these processes was of the essence, the author demonstrates that it was the construction of the absolutist authority of the school founder, an image which he suggests was actually developed later in history, that maintained the foundations of school methodology and hermeneutics. The defence of that methodology gave rise to an infinite variety of individual legal opinions, ultimately accommodating changes in the law. Thus the author concludes that the mechanisms of change were embedded in the very structure of Islamic law, despite its essentially conservative nature. This book will be welcomed by specialists and scholars in Islamic law for its rigour and innovation.

Book Synopsis Three Stages of Salvation: Heavenly-Oriented or Hell-Bound? by : Amoakoh Gyasi-Agyei
Download or read book Three Stages of Salvation: Heavenly-Oriented or Hell-Bound? written by Amoakoh Gyasi-Agyei and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2015-01-20 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has reached a stage in which value systems are trampled underfoot or supplanted by moral relativism. At best we are guided by the law rather than our consciences. Therefore, evil practices which escape the law are condoned. Almost everything is subtly covered in deception, and those skillful in deception win the race. The only way by which humanity can escape deception and stop killing each other and preserve the universe is to accept salvation in Jesus Christ and live by biblical disposition. Elder Ing. Prof. Amoakoh Gyasi-Agyei digs deep into how the three parts of humanityspirit, soul and bodycan be redisposed to the original masterpiece of God to bring the world back to decorum. He uses the Holy Bible to answer many human dilemmas caused by rebellion against God, including: how to reach the supreme God; the origin of deception and its antidote; predestination; sexuality; humans as instruments of praiseworthy acts versus the instrument of evil; heaven and hell; the origin and eternal destina-tion of the human spirit, soul and body; blessings associated with lifestyle of biblical disposition versus curses with worldliness; and the origin and the fate of the current universe. This book is a must-read by everybody.

Book Synopsis Ammonia Oxidizing Bacteria by : Maulin P Shah
Download or read book Ammonia Oxidizing Bacteria written by Maulin P Shah and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2023-09-29 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ammonia oxidising bacteria (AOB) and archaea are ubiquitous microorganisms, but their abundance and diversity vary widely across environments and play a crucial role in many ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems in particular. However, characterization of AOB communities requires genomic methods as they are difficult to isolate from samples. Although non-toxic to humans, in the short term, ammonia in water systems is harmful to aquatic life both directly and indirectly through the disruption of the ecosystem by promoting the proliferation of algae (a process called eutrophication). Contamination often occurs due to use of disinfectants with chloramines, fertilizers, waste disposal and from natural processes. Due to their natural presence, utilising AOBs to treat water is viewed as an attractive solution, but greater knowledge of their biochemical processes and measurement of their efficacy is required. Ideal for postgraduates and researchers in a variety of disciplines, this book covers the ecology, genomics, physiology and biochemistry of AOBs and their presence in wastewater, and the challenges, opportunities and potential applications for nitrification and ammonia removal.
Book Synopsis Modern Christianity and Cultural Aspirations by : David Bebbington
Download or read book Modern Christianity and Cultural Aspirations written by David Bebbington and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2003-06-01 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity and cultural aspirations are inevitably in tension: the combination invites a suspicion that temporal pursuits have slackened a quest for divine approbation. Nevertheless, as Christians generally believe that worldly success may be a position of influence worth seeking for noble reasons, it is truly an area of tension, rather than merely temptation. This volume explores this lively juxtaposition in the context of modern Britain and America. In fifteen original essays, a range of well-respected scholars examine the cultural aspirations of a broad spectrum of Christians, including Baptists, Congregationalists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Roman Catholics, and Anglicans, as they were expressed in arenas as diverse as politics, education, arthitecture, and sport.
