Download or read book A Parallel Numerical Simulation for Supersonic Flows Using Zonal Overlapped Grids and Local Time Steps for Common and Distributed Memory Multiprocessors written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parallel Navier-Stokes codes are developed to solve both two- dimensional and three-dimensional flow fields in and around ramjet and nose tip configurations. A multi-zone overlapped grid technique is used to extend an explicit finite-difference method to more complicated geometries. Parallel implementations are developed for execution on both distributed and common-memory multiprocessor architectures. For the steady-state solutions, the use of the local time-step method has the inherent advantage of reducing the communications overhead commonly incurred by parallel implementations. Computational results of the codes are given for a series of test problems. The parallel partitioning of computational zones is also discussed. 5 refs., 18 figs.

Book Synopsis High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering ’03 by : Egon Krause
Download or read book High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering ’03 written by Egon Krause and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the state of the art in modeling and simulation on supercomputers. Leading German research groups present their results achieved on high-end systems of the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) for the year 2003. The reports cover all fields of computational science and engineering ranging from computational fluid dynamics via computational physics and chemistry to computer science. Special emphasis is given to industrially relevant applications. Presenting results for both vector-systems and micro-processor based systems, the book allows the reader to compare performance levels and usability of a variety of supercomputer architectures. In the light of the success of the Japanese Earth-Simulator, this book may serve as a guide book for a US response. The book covers the main methods in high performance computing. Its outstanding results in achieving highest performance for production codes are of particular interest for both the scientist and the engineer. The book comes with a wealth of color illustrations and tables of results.

Book Synopsis Theory and Computation of Hydrodynamic Stability by : W. O. Criminale
Download or read book Theory and Computation of Hydrodynamic Stability written by W. O. Criminale and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-10-23 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of hydrodynamic stability is fundamental to many subjects, ranging from geophysics and meteorology through to engineering design. This treatise covers both classical and modern aspects of the subject, systematically developing it from the simplest physical problems, then progressing chapter by chapter to the most complex, considering linear and nonlinear situations, and analysing temporal and spatial stability. The authors examine each problem both analytically and numerically: many chapters end with an appendix outlining relevant numerical techniques. All relevant fluid flows are treated, including those where the fluid may be compressible, or those from geophysics, or those that require salient geometries for description. Details of initial-value problems are explored equally with those of stability. As a result, the early transient period as well as the asymptotic fate for perturbations for a flow can be assessed. The text is enriched with many exercises, copious illustrations and an extensive bibliography and the result is a book that can be used with courses on hydrodynamic stability or as an authoritative reference for researchers.
