Download or read book Wind and Wave Climate Atlas, Vol. III written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study was conducted to develop a wind and wave climate atlas for the east coast of Canada, the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Great Lakes. The project collected, consolidated and presented the existing environmental data in a format that could be used to assess the strength and operational requirements of vessels and other marine structures for operation in these regions. Each region is divided into a number of subareas or sites, based on the availability of data within the region, shipping lanes and fishing grounds, and the meteorological conditions. This volume presents the Great Lakes region, representing five isolated bodies of water interconnected by a narrow constriction that eliminates any dynamic coupling between individual lakes. The area is divided into eight subareas. A database was compiled from the WES wind and wave hindcast model covering 1956-87. Data covers a number of grid point locations at three-hour intervals.
