It is possible for the enrolment to be so small that the number found in the Senior class who will go to college is insufficient to justify either the high school or college in attempt ing to coordinate their work. Small enrolment means that classes must be small, which condition quickly places a limit on the number of elective courses or units which can be provided in the high school. On the other hand the small high school may mean a more narrowly selected group of students with a narrower range of interests and abilities. There is rather wide variation within each state in regard to the enrolment of the approved schools; yet the median enrolment shows definite differences in this particular in the various states.
