This book was released on 1974 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In sequential selection and ranking procedures, contributions have been made to select the 'best' population by using the indifference zone approach. But, very little work has been done for the subset selection problem. In this paper, the authors are interested in deriving some methods to construct nonelimination and elimination type sequential procedures to select a subset containing all 'mildly t best' populations, t fixed, 1 = or
Book Synopsis On Sequential Elimination Procedures by : Raymond J. Carroll
Download or read book On Sequential Elimination Procedures written by Raymond J. Carroll and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The asymptotic properties of a general class of nonparametric sequential ranking and selection procedures which possess an elimination feature is studied. If the correct selection probability is to be at least 1-alpha and the length of the indifference zone is delta, different results are obtained as alpha approaches zero depending on whether one assumes delta fixed or delta approaches zero. A Monte-Carlo study confirms the superiority of elimination procedures.

Book Synopsis Statistical Inference and Related Topics by : Madan Lal Puri
Download or read book Statistical Inference and Related Topics written by Madan Lal Puri and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistical Inference and Related Topics, Volume 2 presents the proceedings of the Summer Research Institute on Statistical Inference for Stochastic Processes, held in Bloomingdale, Indiana on July 31 to August 9, 1975. This book focuses on the theory of statistical inference for stochastic processes. Organized into 15 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the case of continuous distributions with one real parameter. This text then reviews some results for multidimensional empirical processes and Brownian sheets when they are indexed by families of sets. Other chapters consider a class of cubic spline estimators of probability density functions over a finite interval. This book discusses as well the method to construct nonelimination type sequential procedures to select a subset containing all the superior populations. The final chapter deals with Markov sequences, which are among the most interesting available for study with a rich theory and varied applications. This book is a valuable resource for graduate students and research workers.
Book Synopsis Statistical Topics and Stochastic Models for Dependent Data with Applications by : Vlad Stefan Barbu

This book was released on 2020-12-03 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collective volume authored by leading scientists in the field of stochastic modelling, associated statistical topics and corresponding applications. The main classes of stochastic processes for dependent data investigated throughout this book are Markov, semi-Markov, autoregressive and piecewise deterministic Markov models. The material is divided into three parts corresponding to: (i) Markov and semi-Markov processes, (ii) autoregressive processes and (iii) techniques based on divergence measures and entropies. A special attention is payed to applications in reliability, survival analysis and related fields.

Book Synopsis On Some Nonparametric Selection Procedures by : Shanti S. Gupta
Download or read book On Some Nonparametric Selection Procedures written by Shanti S. Gupta and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In many practical situations, the experimenter often faces the problem of comparing several populations, treatments in clinical trials or processes. The selection and ranking method of ranking and selection provides the useful techniques for solving such problems. There have been two main approaches to selection and ranking problems, the indifference zone approach and the subset selection approach. In the indifference zone approach a single population is chosen and is guaranteed to be the best (worst) with probability at least equal to P*. However, in this formulation it is assumed that the best population is sufficiently apart from the remaining k - 1 populations. In the subset selection approach no such restriction on the parameter space is assumed. A random size subset of k populations is chosen which is guaranteed to contain the best (worst) population with probability at least equal to P*. In this approach the data or the outcome of the experiment is used to decide on how many populations to select. Nonparametric statistics; Equations. (cp).

Book Synopsis Multiple Decision (selection and Ranking) Procedures and Multivariate Distribution Theory by : Shanti S. Gupta
Download or read book Multiple Decision (selection and Ranking) Procedures and Multivariate Distribution Theory written by Shanti S. Gupta and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on selection and ranking problems and multivariate distribution theory has been carried out on several aspects of the problem. The significant results obtained relate to univariate and multivariate populations using parametric as well as non-parametric procedures. Some work has been done in the area of sequential selection procedures under the subset selection formulation. Also a beginning has been made for selection from populations which are partially ordered in some sense with respect to a known population G.A few results have been obtained using a decision-theoretic approach to the problem of selection and ranking. Currently the attention is being focused on the construction of decision rules under certain 'optimality' conditions. All these problems were examined under the subset selection formulation. (Author).
