Book Synopsis An Analytical Method for Mass Spectrometer Leak Detection by : Claude R. Winkelman
Download or read book An Analytical Method for Mass Spectrometer Leak Detection written by Claude R. Winkelman and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is presented for using a mass spectrometer leak detector analytically for large systems. The method consists of calibrating the mass spectrometer, measuring the response time of the system being checked for leaks, and then utilizing these results in the system tests. The method has been used to measure leaks in two large (360 and 600 liters) heat exchangers of complex internal geometry. The response times of these vessels were 18 and 24 min, respectively, and the minimum detectable leak was about 4.6 x 10−10 std-cc/sec for each vessel.

Book Synopsis Aeronautical Applications of Non-destructive Testing by : Abbas Fahr
Download or read book Aeronautical Applications of Non-destructive Testing written by Abbas Fahr and published by DEStech Publications, Inc. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive guide to the basic principles and applications of non-destructive testing methods for aircraft system and components: airframe, propulsion, landing gear and more Provides detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of major NDT methods Important for design, inspection, maintenance, repair, corrosion protection and safety This critical book is among the first to provide a detailed assessment of non-destructive testing methods for the many materials and thousands of parts in aircraft. It describes a wide variety of NDT techniques and explains their application in the evaluation and inspection of aerospace materials and components ranging from the entire airframe to systems and subsystems. At the same time the book offers guidance on the information derived from each NDT method and its relation to aircraft design, repair, maintenance and overall safety. The book covers basic principles, as well as practical details of instrumentation, procedures and operational results with a full discussion of each method's capabilities and limitations as these pertain to aircraft inspection and different types of materials, e.g., composites and metal alloys. Technologies covered include: optical and enhanced optical methods; liquid penetrant, replication and magnetic particle inspection; electromagnetic and eddy current approaches; acoustics and ultrasonic techniques; infrared thermal imaging; and radiographic methods. A final section is devoted to NDT reliability and ways the probability of detection can be measured to establish inspection intervals.

Book Synopsis Leak Testing Made Easy by : Barry Dean
Download or read book Leak Testing Made Easy written by Barry Dean and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leak testing has become a major aspect of many processes in a wide range of industries, from castings to crisp packets. But it seems it is often shrouded in “secret formulas” and specialist knowledge, known only to the leak test manufacturers. Have you ever asked: · What is my leak specification? · Can I set up my air pressure tester myself? · How do I check/calibrate my leak test machine? · Would a helium test be better? · Why is my leak test failing good parts? · What are the problems I need to be aware of? · Who can I ask for honest help and advice? Many of you will already know the wealth of knowledge the author brings to this subject, and how he makes even the complicated easy to understand. Now retired from industry, Barry wanted to share his knowledge with anyone who wants to be an expert in this field or simply has an interest and wants to know more. With this easy-to-follow guide, you can call on all of Barry’s vast experience in all aspects of leak testing, including air under water, pressure decay, flow measurement, helium leak testing, gas sniffers and many more. The book guides you through all you need to know, from the basic mathematics, through developing your leak specifications, selection and setting up your leak test, right through to fault diagnosis and effective maintenance. Leak Testing Made Easy does exactly what it says, taking the mystery of the subject, and making it simple and practical to understand, with many pictorial examples, along with lots of practical analogies to common-day things that you already know about. Packed with look-up tables and charts, this book is a must for any specifiers and users of leaks and leak testing equipment, or simply for those who would like to know more.
