Book excerpt: Tabernacle Sermons VOLUME 1 The King's Business (This book is a series of messages dealing with leadership, ministry, and service. In subsequent years (after the first edition) this book was broken into pieces and printed as three different books: (1) "Holy Ghost Ministries," containing chapters 4, and 6-11; (2) "The King's Business," containing chapters 1-3, 13 and 16; and (3) "Service for the King," containing chapters 5, 12, 14-15, 18-20. This book is a reprint of the first edition.) Beginning in 1886 A.B. Simpson began publishing a series of books called "Tabernacle Sermons." These books contained messages that he had preached in the Gospel Tabernacle, New York City, New York and subsequently published in eleven volumes. These books are reprints of their original volumes. The content has been kept as close to the original as possible. Spelling was modernized in a few places, and where there were obvious errors in the text (one or two), comparisons were made to later editions of the books to keep the author's intent. Some of the original eleven volumes were combined, and some of the author's other books were added into the series. VOLUME 1 The King's Business VOLUME 2 The Fullness Of Jesus VOLUME 3 The Gospel Of The Kingdom VOLUME 4 Natural Emblems Of Spiritual Life VOLUME 5 In Christ Containing Three Volumes: The Four-Fold Gospel, The Christ Life, & The Christ Life And The Self Life (This book was originally printed as three separate books: The Four-Fold Gospel, Volume 5 of Tabernacle Sermons; The Christ Life, Volume 8 of Tabernacle Sermons; and The Christ Life And The Self Life, which was printed as an individual book.) These three small volumes were combined as their contents relate to each other, and also to give the reader the most content for their purchase. VOLUME 6 Divine Emblems In Genesis And Exodus (This book was originally printed as two separate volumes: Volume 6, and Volume 7, in the original Tabernacle Sermons.) VOLUME 7 Christ In The Tabernacle And Leviticus (This book was originally printed as two separate books Volume 9 Christ in the Tabernacle - part of the Tabernacle Sermons Series; and Christ in Leviticus - part of the Christ in the Bible Series.) VOLUME 8 Joshua & The Land Of Promise (This book was originally printed as two separate books: The Land Of Promise Volume 10 of Tabernacle Sermons; and Christ in Joshua - part of the Christ in the Bible Series. VOLUME 9 Walking In The Spirit & When The Comforter Came (This book was originally printed as two separate books: "Walking In The Spirit," Volume 11 of Tabernacle Sermons, and "When The Comforter Came" was printed as a thirty-one day devotional dealing with the Holy Spirit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My own private opinion is that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and him crucified, unless you preach what now-a-days is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. I do not believe we can preach the gospel, if we do not preach justification by faith, without works; nor unless we preach the sovereignty of God in his dispensation of grace; nor unless we exalt the electing, unchangeable, eternal, immutable, conquering, love of Jehovah: nor do I think we can preach the gospel, unless we base it upon the peculiar redemption which Christ made for his elect and chosen people; nor can I comprehend a gospel which lets saints fall away after they are called, and suffers the children of God to be burned in the fires of damnation after having believed. Such a gospel I abhor. The gospel of the Bible is not such a gospel. We preach Christ crucified in a different fashion, and to all gainsayers we reply. "We have not so learned Christ." (Charles Spurgeon)

Book excerpt: This engrossing book will quickly capture your attention as you realize the excitement leading up to this festive occasion and the richness it will bring to your understanding of both the Old and New Testament references. The authors treat us to the sense of anticipation that "cannot be overstated" as their insightful account of traditions leading up to this holiday unfolds...a boy's first haircut, bonfires, sweet treats, artful paper cutting, firstfruits. Shavnot will lead believers in Jesus into greater understanding of the significance of the omer, the waiting period, which foreshadows our watching for His return and gives further meaning to our work of building His kingdom.

Book excerpt: Central to God’s character is the quality of holiness. Yet, even so, most people are hard-pressed to define what God’s holiness precisely is. Many preachers today avoid the topic altogether because people today don’t quite know what to do with words like “awe” or “fear.” R. C. Sproul, in this classic work, puts the holiness of God in its proper and central place in the Christian life. He paints an awe-inspiring vision of God that encourages Christian to become holy just as God is holy. Once you encounter the holiness of God, your life will never be the same.

Join Pastor Jim Cymbala as he invites you to discover a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit moves, and let Spirit Rising be your guide along the way. What will God do when you open your life to the Holy Spirit? Christianity is impossible without the Holy Spirit. So why do we talk so little about him? In Spirit Rising, Jim Cymbala combines biblical insights with stunning stories of the Holy Spirit's work to help you experience God's power in a new way. For so many of us, faith is harder than it should be. Discouraged, anxious, and worn down, we wonder what happened to the power and the joy that Jesus promised. Book excerpt: For several months, prior to publication, some people were asking that we should write this book and that it be entitled, “The Message Of The Cross”. • I believed then and now that their request was from the Lord. Consequently, this book is the result of that need. • This Message, “The Message Of The Cross” is the single most important Message of the Word in any language. The Salvation of the soul and how we live for God is important beyond comprehension. • I feel every Believer will be greatly strengthened in the Word if they will avail themselves of this publication.

Book excerpt: A Legacy of Preaching, Volume Two--Enlightenment to the Present Day explores the history and development of preaching through a biographical and theological examination of its most important preachers. Instead of teaching the history of preaching from the perspective of movements and eras, each contributor tells the story of a particular preacher in history, allowing these preachers from the past to come alive and instruct us through their lives, theologies, and methods of preaching. Each chapter introduces readers to a key figure in the history of preaching, followed by an analysis of the theological views that shaped their preaching, their methodology of sermon preparation and delivery, and an appraisal of the significant contributions they have made to the history of preaching. This diverse collection of familiar and lesser-known individuals provides a detailed and fascinating look at what it has meant to communicate the gospel over the past two thousand years. By looking at how the gospel has been communicated over time and across different cultures, pastors, scholars, and homiletics students can enrich their own understanding and practice of preaching for application today. Volume Two covers the period from the Enlightenment to the present day and profiles thirty-one preachers including: Charles Simeon by Darrell Young Robert Murray M’Cheyne by Jordan Mark Stone Alexander Maclaren by R. Scott Pace Catherine Booth by Roger J. Green Charles Haddon Spurgeon by Thomas J. Nettles Rodney “Gipsy” Smith by Bill Curtis George Liele by Terriel Byrd Charles Finney by Robert W.
