Book Synopsis New Strategies for Financial Services Firms by : Dennis Kundisch
Download or read book New Strategies for Financial Services Firms written by Dennis Kundisch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theme of this book "New strategies for financial services providers" is an equally relevant and important topic in science and practice. In the (post) informa tion age economy, the German financial services market and many big financial services providers are in a deep crisis. Increasing competition due to deregulation and improved transparency through new means of communication on the one hand, and empowered customers demanding individualized solutions for their fi nancial problems e. g. because of new working circumstances, increase the pres sure on the market participants to alter their strategies according to these new challenges. Many firms have reacted defensively either by merging in the hopes of realizing scale effects - a high-risk venture considering the last few years - or by adapting "me-too-strategies" (also known as "lemming-banking") that do not provide for a sustainable competitive advantage. Based on a profound analysis of developing mega-trends in the years ahead, es pecially in information and IT-intense market, Dr. Kundisch develops a new anti cyclical strategy that aims at using IT as an enabler to strengthen customer rela tionships and focus on individualized solutions wherever it seems economically sound to do so. However, he does not stop after the development of the strategy, but provides two important concepts that may help turn this vision and strategy into reality. Thus, he favorably and refreshingly differentiates against many contributions that stop at the fairly abstract strategic level.

Book Synopsis The Digital Economy by : Edward J. Malecki
Download or read book The Digital Economy written by Edward J. Malecki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-12-07 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information technologies (IT) shape economic space, but we have no clear map of the cyber economy since the "digital revolution" began in the early 1970s. The Digital Economy offers an up-to-date, critical synthesis that links the various aspects of the digital or cyber economy from the perspective of real firms. A geographic approach emphasizes how IT has made businesses less dependent on locational constraints, and the tangible effects on places and regions are placed at the core of the analysis. Case studies of companies, including Amazon, Dell, Li & Fung, and Volvo, demonstrate that the geography of digitally-driven production is the outcome of both dispersion and agglomeration dynamics. Global corporations are shown to have footprints that ignore – to some degree – distance and time, yet creative and coordinating activities remain anchored in urban innovative ecosystems such as Silicon Valley and Bangalore. These trends have been made possible by the development of a worldwide and integrated telecommunications network, whose unequal presence dictates the capabilities of places and communities to be connected to the global economy. However, the threat of the digital divide must not be overstated. In cities, rural areas, and emerging countries, local development is wrapped up in human capital, rather than technology. This engaging and accessible text describes and explains the patterns and dynamics of today’s digital economic space. The effects on places and regions and the people in them are at the core of the authors’ analysis, illustrated by many real examples. This book will be useful to anyone studying business and management, geography and information and communication studies.

Book Synopsis A European Strategy for Jobs and Growth by : Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: European Union Committee
Download or read book A European Strategy for Jobs and Growth written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Lords: European Union Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2006-03-16 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report by the European Union Committee examines the progress of the European Union in initiating a strategy for jobs and growth across the Community as a whole. The background to this report stems from the Spring European Council meeting in 2000, in Lisbon, and the launch of an economic reform agenda. The Committee observes that since the "Lisbon Agenda", little progress has been made and the performance of many of the larger European economies has been poor. The Committee has noted that certain worrying signs of protectionist behaviour have developed, especially regarding barriers of cross border mergers. The EU has recognized this weak performance and the Agenda was relaunched in 2005, with a greater focus on the key economic priorities of more growth and jobs. Also, all Member States are now required to produce an annual National Action Plan highlighting the policies being pursued to improve economic growth and increase employment. The Committee sets out a number of recommendations to further push forward the priorities of growth and jobs, including: that the Commission should seek to complete the progress towards an internal market; that Member States should influence one another in the development of good practice through statistical comparison of their economic progress, and agree on quantifiable targets; that the format of the National Action Plans should include not only the successes, but where countries are underperforming; that the Agenda be given a higher public profile.

Book Synopsis Strategic use of CRM by : Vladimir Tosovic
Download or read book Strategic use of CRM written by Vladimir Tosovic and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2001-09-26 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: CRM is a buzzword nowadays. This catchphrase has become the revenue driver for the consultants and a nightmare for the people responsible for its implementation. Although this topic receives broad media attention, the presented strategic CRM issues are very fuzzy. Attracted by the enormous revenue potential, there is a vast of CRM experts giving tips on the CRM strategies, which results in a very unclear and even contrary coverage of this subject. The companies feel that they need CRM, but as soon as they try to find out what that is and how could it be beneficial for their business, they get very diverse and vague answers. This work will seek to provide a consistent picture of CRM strategy and the underlying technology The focus of this paper is to offer a critical analysis of different strategic CRM concepts and integrate them into one CRM framework. As CRM is made possible by the technology developments, the understanding of opportunities provided by the underlying technology is necessary. Therefore the center of attention will be in the explanation of the interaction between the customer oriented strategy and the enabling technology. In order to uncover the essence of CRM, this paper will provide a look at the roots of CRM. It will explain the theoretical background of CRM and the new market challenges, which have been pushing the development of the CRM concept. Also the relationship between the customer satisfaction and the customer profitability must be evaluated, as satisfied customers is one of the main intentions of CRM. I want also to approach some practical issues of CRM. This study will seek to outline the findings about the bottom line impact of CRM and the issues on the accessibility of the customer information. Finally, with the last chapter I will try to close with useful recommendations regarding CRM strategy development and provide a conclusion on the results achieved in this work.
