Through a content analysis of websites targeted at men and women interested in sports, a systematic comparison of quality and quantity of depictions of women in sports is analyzed. The analysis is done in order to determine the extent to which new media allows the challenge of socially constructed norms historically established by mass media in traditional media platforms. Findings are analyzed comparing quantity and quality of traditional media representations with new media representations in order to demonstrate consistency with past research or differences because of new media's ability to reach and target niche audiences.
