Book excerpt: In Nazarene Dream, key events in the life of Joshua (Jesus) unfold and reveal the motivation behind his mission, how he meets his disciples, and how he gets in trouble with the authorities. Above all, they show how Joshuas followers come to mistake a thoroughly human Galilean rabbi for a divine, miracle-working messiah. Decades later, after Joshua fails to return in time to prevent the Romans defeat of the Jews and the destruction of Jerusalem, a proto-Christian Jewish community in Syrian Antioch has a crisis of faith. Within this community, popular rabbi Ariel must confront his flocks doubts, disillusionment, and desertion of the cult of Joshua. But Ariel still believes. His observations and experiences of the wars atrocities convince Ariel that the war is the fulfillment of signs revealed by Joshua himself. Ariel resolves to persuade his community that their messiah saw the war coming and will return as promised.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of a young white leopard growing up in the most tempting time in history. She receives a dream from the Shepherd that tells her that she will "defeat the maned one with the voice of thunder." However, as she grows up her life becomes unstable and she begins to question her purpose. Stress and strife dominate her life, and eventually, doubt begins to rule her thoughts, allowing bitterness to envelop her heart. Dreams and visions, though, also dominate her mind as they foreshadow future events. As she tries to figure out each vision, heavenly signs also appear unto the white leopard, signs that she knows only come from the Lord of heaven and earth. Eventually, these visions come to pass. Four sore plagues — war, famine, death, and wild beasts — devastate a fourth part of the earth, changing the landscape of the world. In an attempt to restore peace and safety, the kingdoms of the earth come together to form a ten-kingdom coalition called the New Kingdom. With this New Kingdom comes new rules and laws that contradict the holy laws established by the Lord of heaven and earth. While most suspect nothing of the kingdom's true plans, the white leopard senses that the time of great tribulation is at hand. In order to survive, she must trust the Lord to bring her through all trials and show her the path for strength in fulfilling her purpose while also overcoming emotional bondages that have hampered her spiritual freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beloved teacher helps modern people live the Bible’s message more fully. Respected teacher and author Verna Dozier explores the ways that humanity and the institutional church have strayed far from Jesus’s original message. To help us get back on track, she examines the Bible: a theological and historical record of hundreds of years in which two communities of faith (Jewish and early Christian) explored their own life experiences. Our task now is not to ask which interpretations are correct, but to ask “what did it mean to them” and “what does it mean for us?” Dozier encourages us to see Christianity not as creed or institution, but as “the vision of a new possibility for human life rooted in an ancient understanding of God and lived out by a Nazarene carpenter.” Through adept storytelling and study, Dozier reawakens our sense of calling and our desire for truth. This new and revised edition includes a new foreword by Sophfronia Scott and a study guide.

Now at 72 years of age - after 45 years as a pastor, teacher and missionary - I can thank her for her prayers for they were fulfi lled beyond her most hopeful dreams. I look back on 60 years of Biblical studies beginning when I fi rst completed reading the King James Bible at the age of 12. I have been in love with the Scriptures – and reading/writing in general – and always wanted to publish a new edition of the New Testament.

Book excerpt: It is 312 AD outside ancient Rome as Emperor Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus stands above the Tiber River and watches his enemy, Maxentius, and over one hundred thousand soldiers cross Milvian Bridge and take position on the battlefield. Unfortunately, forty-year-old Constantine no longer feels like the invincible god his enemies and some friends believe he is. But as he stands in the midst of a civil war, Constantine knows now is not the time for doubts. As he capitalizes on his opponent’s smallest mistakes and executes strategies that reflect his perception and genius, Constantine brutally battles within two global wars that not only include Maxentius, but also several other enemies with large forces. While he consolidates his power on the battlefield, Constantine must fight the fissures within an emerging Christian Church controlled by two popes and countless bishops. But as Emperor Constantine grows older and becomes a devoted father, battles erupt within his own family that lead to dramatic changes. Imperator, Deus shares the fascinating historical tale of the first Christian Emperor of the Roman Empire from his victory at the Milvian Bridge in October 312 AD to his death twenty-five years later.

Book excerpt: "Beauty, Blissfulness & Tragedy: The Life of Oscar Wilde" is a biography of the famous Irish writer, poet and dramatist, written by his friend Frank Harris. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, Wilde became one of London's most popular playwrights in the early 1890s. Today he is remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays and poetry, and the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death. Wilde is a central figure in aesthetic writing. His controversial, open lifestyle was the reason he was charged and eventually convicted for the crime of sodomy.

Book excerpt: Salome is a tragedy by Oscar Wilde an it tells the Biblical story of Salome, stepdaughter of the tetrarch Herod Antipas, who, to her stepfather's dismay but to the delight of her mother Herodias, requests the head of Jokanaan (John the Baptist) on a silver platter as a reward for dancing the dance of the seven veils. Wilde wrote Salome in French and translated it to English several years later. The play was refused a license by the Lord Chamberlain, since it was illegal to depict biblical characters. It was eventually performed in Paris, but the ban in England stood for almost forty years. This edition contains both French and English version of the play.
