Download or read book National Combustion Code: Parallel Implementation and Performance written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Combustion Code (NCC) is being developed by an industry-government team for the design and analysis of combustion systems. CORSAIR-CCD is the current baseline reacting flow solver for NCC. This is a parallel, unstructured grid code which uses a distributed memory, message passing model for its parallel implementation. The focus of the present effort has been to improve the performance of the NCC flow solver to meet combustor designer requirements for model accuracy and analysis turnaround time. Improving the performance of this code contributes significantly to the overall reduction in time and cost of the combustor design cycle. This paper describes the parallel implementation of the NCC flow solver and summarizes its current parallel performance on an SGI Origin 2000. Earlier parallel performance results on an IBM SP-2 are also included. The performance improvements which have enabled a turnaround of less than 15 hours for a 1.3 million element fully reacting combustion simulation are described.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ParCFD 2001, the thirteenth international conference on Parallel Computational Fluid Dynamics took place in Egmond aan Zee, the Netherlands, from May 21-23, 2001. The specialized, high-level ParCFD conferences are organized yearly on traveling locations all over the world. A strong back-up is given by the central organization located in the USA http://www.parcfd.org.These proceedings of ParCFD 2001 represent 70% of the oral lectures presented at the meeting. All published papers were subjected to a refereeing process, which resulted in a uniformly high quality. The papers cover not only the traditional areas of the ParCFD conferences, e.g. numerical schemes and algorithms, tools and environments, interdisciplinary topics, industrial applications, but, following local interests, also environmental and medical issues. These proceedings present an up-to-date overview of the state of the art in parallel computational fluid dynamics.

Book Synopsis Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Combustion by : Santanu De
Download or read book Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Combustion written by Santanu De and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-12 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art models for turbulent combustion, with special emphasis on the theory, development and applications of combustion models in practical combustion systems. It simplifies the complex multi-scale and nonlinear interaction between chemistry and turbulence to allow a broader audience to understand the modeling and numerical simulations of turbulent combustion, which remains at the forefront of research due to its industrial relevance. Further, the book provides a holistic view by covering a diverse range of basic and advanced topics—from the fundamentals of turbulence–chemistry interactions, role of high-performance computing in combustion simulations, and optimization and reduction techniques for chemical kinetics, to state-of-the-art modeling strategies for turbulent premixed and nonpremixed combustion and their applications in engineering contexts.

Book Synopsis Adaptive Mesh Refinement - Theory and Applications by : Tomasz Plewa
Download or read book Adaptive Mesh Refinement - Theory and Applications written by Tomasz Plewa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-20 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced numerical simulations that use adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) methods have now become routine in engineering and science. Originally developed for computational fluid dynamics applications these methods have propagated to fields as diverse as astrophysics, climate modeling, combustion, biophysics and many others. The underlying physical models and equations used in these disciplines are rather different, yet algorithmic and implementation issues facing practitioners are often remarkably similar. Unfortunately, there has been little effort to review the advances and outstanding issues of adaptive mesh refinement methods across such a variety of fields. This book attempts to bridge this gap. The book presents a collection of papers by experts in the field of AMR who analyze past advances in the field and evaluate the current state of adaptive mesh refinement methods in scientific computing.
