Several data situations are considered. The authors propose methods for measuring changes in inventories that meet the 1993 SNA principles. The paper also explores possibilities for implementing the proposed improvements and explains the interpretation of data on changes in inventories.
Book Synopsis Measure up by : Mr.Thomas F Alexander
Download or read book Measure up written by Mr.Thomas F Alexander and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2017-02-02 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To derive real GDP, the System of National Accounts 2008 (2008 SNA) recommends a technique called double deflation. Some countries use single deflation techniques, which fail to capture important relative price changes and introduce estimation errors in official GDP growth. We simulate the effects of single deflation to the GDP data of eight countries that use double deflation. We find that errors due to single deflation can be significant, but their magnitude and direction are not systematic over time and across countries. We conclude that countries still using single deflation should move to double deflation.

Download or read book Links Between Business Accounting and National Accounting written by United Nations and published by United Nations Publications. This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is one of a series of handbooks prepared by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) to help countries, particularly developing countries, implement the 1993 system of national accounts (SNA). It attempts to cover the conceptual and practical aspects of linking business accounts to national accounts through countries' experiences. The handbook aims to provide a general guide to business accounts and the possibility of linking items in them to SNA concepts allowing for local rules and regulations. It cannot provide a set of concrete and detailed international guidelines due to the diversity of business account standards among countries and the extent to which business accounts are made available to statisticians. The main target audiences for this handbook are staff responsible for the compilation of national accounts although it is also a useful reference tool for those who prepare statistics for the preparation of national accounts.

Book Synopsis System of National Accounts, 1993 by : International Monetary Fund
Download or read book System of National Accounts, 1993 written by International Monetary Fund and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 1993-03-15 with total page 778 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1993 SNA represents a major advance in national accounting. While updating and clarifying the 1968 SNA, the 1993 SNA provides the basis for improving compilation of national accounts statistics, promoting integration of economic and related statistics, and enhancing analysis of economic developments. The 1993 SNA deals more clearly with relationships between economic flows (such as production, income, savings, accumulation, and financing) and links between these flows and stocks. At the same time the 1993 SNA reflects the many significant developments that have taken place in financial markets and completes the integration of balance sheets into the system. The 1993 SNA also suggests how satellite accounts (e.g. environmental accounts) and alternative classifications (e.g., through social accounting matrices) an be used to augment the central framework of the system.

Book Synopsis Applications of the Input-Output Framework by : Kakali Mukhopadhyay
Download or read book Applications of the Input-Output Framework written by Kakali Mukhopadhyay and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-05 with total page 453 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a fresh perspective on the ever-growing relevance of input-output analysis in problem solving. It is based on the “19th National Conference of the Input-Output Research Association of India (IORA)”, held in 2017 in Mumbai, India. The conference promoted the exchange of ideas on input-output analysis and related methods among economists, government officials, policymakers, academicians and industrialists. The book captures the unique ideas of prominent scholars, extends the basic “input-output framework,” analytical tool, outlines the possible impacts of some major policy decisions adopted by the Government of India, and puts forward concrete policy suggestions. In addition, it highlights the versatility of the Leontief model, which is currently being extended to cover a diverse spectrum of policy issues, ranging from agricultural productivity to science and technology and from carbon hotspots to energy and environmental consequences. A perfect blend of theory and application, the book provides a realistic outlook on sensitive economies and interdependencies between sectors.
