Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Life Was Predestined by God is an encouragement to the readers that God sees you. He knows your every thought and every move that you make. Sometimes your plans may not go in the direction of your choice, your life may not be going the way you planned, and the thing that you desire to have is a lost cause—but hold on. Do not give up. In this book, you will see how God will give you the desires of your heart as he promised in his Word if you will let him. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I want you to know that if it matters to you, it matters to him. Paul said in Ephesians 1:11, “In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will.” After reading this book, you will see that “it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of his good purpose” (Philippians 2:3). God said to Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you” (Jeremiah 1:5). “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope’” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Book excerpt: This is the most common reactive thought among those who have ever taken the time to contemplate their existence according to the typical understanding of the relationship between the all-knowing God and his intentional, predestined creation, Man. Author Bruce Brown, after having pondered this seemly paradox-ridden biblical enigma from his teenage years, could no longer keep the answers he found to himself and is confident you will find yourself in these pages. Presented honestly and straight forward, My Predestined Life examines the most pervasive questions on the subject of predestination in light of biblical truth. What happens when God's will and the free will he gave man intersect? My Predestined Life sheds new light on this complex issue.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you intimidated by theology? Confused? Bored? Michael Jinkins knows it doesn't have to be that way. "Theology is our critical and prayerful reflection on the totality of life," he writes. "We all do theology on a regular basis, whether or not we are conscious of the fact." In Invitation to Theology Jinkins offers a knowledgeable, helpful and caring guide to walk you through the basics of the Christian faith. Following the pattern of the ancient summary of the Christian faith, the Apostles' Creed, Jinkins highlights the key doctrines of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, humanity, church, salvation and resurrection. He cuts a clear path through theological terms, traditions and debates. And in the spirit of C. S. Lewis, he invites you to consider some of the most profound reflections--from the distant past to the present day--on Christian belief. Throughout this fascinating journey, the main road is always kept in view: "The meaning and shape of our life together as a community of persons is grounded in the inner life of God, the Trinity, and has been revealed to us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ." If you are eager to think about your faith, to examine what and why you believe and to reflect on how such faith can be lived out in our world, Invitation to Theology is the book for you.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A hundred-thousand years ago one of the biggest differences between humans and the rest of the animal kingdom was that we were better at catching them than they were at catching us. Today things have changed...somewhat. Thinking is easy. Anyone can think. What's important is thinking intelligently. The problem is that a battle for our minds is taking place, and most people don't even notice. We're influenced from the news, social gatherings, what we read, what we are told, and what everyone else is thinking. Salespeople, marketers, and politicians know thousands of ways to push our minds in one direction or another. The result is that society is littered with people who retain beliefs they cannot explain for reasons they do not know. What you think matters. People fight for their beliefs, defend them, and in some cases even die for them. Lesser minds might be content with easy answers and poorly thought out explanations. But if you seek a strong mind, you first must ensure that you are capable of overcoming the elements that influence the way you think. Intellectual Warfare is designed to equip you with the tools necessary to win the battle for your mind. The book spans a host of topics ranging from the human ego, natural biases, cognitive illusions, and an entire section on the weapons of persuasion constantly attacking your thought process. Aimed at anyone seeking to improve their intellect, this book will ensure you are making the most of your mind.

It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.

Book excerpt: Jacobus Arminius (1560 -1609), the Latinized name of the Dutch theologian Jakob Hermanszoon from the Protestant Reformation period, served from 1603 as professor in theology at the University of Leiden. He wrote many books and treatises on theology, and his views became the basis of Arminianism and the Dutch Remonstrant movement. Arminius wrote that he sought to teach only those things which could be proved from the Scriptures and that tended toward edification among Christians (with the exception of Roman Catholics, with whom he said there could be no spiritual accord). His motto was reputed to be "Bona conscientia paradisus," meaning, "A good conscience is a paradise." Arminius taught of a "preventing" (or prevenient) grace that has been conferred upon all by the Holy Spirit and this grace is "sufficient for belief, in spite of our sinful corruption, and thus for salvation." Arminius stated that "the grace sufficient for salvation is conferred on the Elect, and on the Non-elect; that, if they will, they may believe or not believe, may be saved or not be saved." William Witt states that "Arminius has a very high theology of grace. He insists emphatically that grace is gratuitous because it is obtained through God's redemption in Christ, not through human effort." Arminius referred to even faith as being received from God as a gift.

Book excerpt: In this important study Hays argues against the mainstream that any attempt to account for the nature and method of Paul's theological language must first reckon with the centrality of narrative elements in his thought. Through an in-depth investigation of Galatians 3:1-4:11, Hays shows that the framework of Paul's thought is neither a system of doctrines nor his personal religious experience but the "sacred story" of Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

There is nothing manufactured without purpose. God claims responsibility for all creation, and has a purpose and predetermined plan for all. Nothing happens on Earth without the permissive will of God. None of us chose to be born. God decided who should be born, where and how long one can live, at the end of which is judgment. The mysteries of life are resolved through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the only prescribed way. Avoid religion, a man-made deception agent.

Book excerpt: This book is the revelation of the creation of God in me. It’s the truth of who I am. This book is about the things I saw as important before knowing my God-given destiny. Predestined One illustrates the power to remove opposing forces against the believer. There is power in learning, whereas there is no power in thinking there is nothing one has not been taught. We are all unique and individually made up by God the creator. And this book exemplifies the spiritual overcoming power of who God created me to be. We all have our individual gifts that God has placed in us as he wills, and with prayer, along with a search within yourself, your gift will be revealed to you. And with that revelation you can begin to act in your gift as a part of the making up of the body of Christ as a whole, as we all play a part. Allow Predestined One, Right Is Not Wrong and Wrong Is Not Right to put you on the path to your destiny in Christ, as well as make right decisions according to truth. It will change your walk in life, and it will place you on the path of victorious living. Roman's 8:29 (AMP) 29 For those whom He foreknew [and loved and chose beforehand], He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son [and ultimately share in His complete sanctification], so that He would be the firstborn [the most beloved and honored] among many believers.

Such was the case for Jessalyn Hutto when she became pregnant with her first baby. But as is all too common in our post-fall world, the life she carried came to an abrupt end. Death had visited her womb, and the horrors of miscarriage had become a part of her life’s story. ••• Ultimately, she would lose two children in the womb, at 6 and 15 weeks gestation. Through these painful losses, a whole new world of suffering opened up to her. It seemed that everywhere she looked women were quietly mourning the loss of their unborn children. Yet this particular type of loss has been grossly overlooked by the church. ••• Couples navigating the unique sorrow of losing a child are often left with little biblical counsel to draw upon. Well-meaning friends and family often offer empty platitudes and Christian clichés. But what these couples truly need is the hope of the gospel. ••• Short, sensitive, and theologically robust, Inheritance of Tears offers hope and comfort to those who are called to walk through the painful trial of miscarriage, and shows pastors and church members how to effectively minister to these parents in their time of need.

Book excerpt: What is life? And what are we all doing here on Earth? Who decides ‘who’ comes and ‘who’ goes? ‘Who’ gets born; and ‘who’ gets to die? Many of us just go about our daily lives and don’t even stop to appraise the purpose of our ‘being’. Who are we? And why are we here? Again, why do the experiences we face happen to us? Are they coincidental? Or does someone – somewhere, have us on his ‘chess board’? Believe me, if you pondered hard on these questions, it wouldn’t take you long before you started to consider the more important enigma; which is – “where do we all go, after our times here on Earth are done?” This book, is poised to open your mind into some realities you probably never considered before. It will set your thoughts at liberty; and hopefully enlighten you on how to best navigate the life you have been so preciously, given. After all, ‘The thing that hath been; It is that, which shall be!
