It also gently encourages them to reach out to the Lord to help them through their grief. Every griever has a deep story that cries to be told, a history of a relationship between two unique people that has never happened before. When they are separated by death, the intensity of the loss needs to be heard. The importance of their bond needs to be understood. The reality of eternal life must be wrestled with. My Forever Memories Journal gives the griever a chance to tell their own story in a way that enables them to get through the valley of the shadow of death with real help and eternal hope. This book offers those who are grieving a chance to write their personal story through guided prompts while providing practical and spiritual help along this painful path that must be traveled. It's written from one friend to another by someone who has survived and is holding out hope. Eva is a certified grief recovery specialist who knows their real help comes from Jesus Christ. He will go with them through this painful time and will never leave them. There is no other hope when one stands at the edge of a grave. The death of a loved one not only involves grieving but is perhaps one of the most critical times to consider our eternal fate. The very purpose of this book is to give the griever a safe place to voice their thoughts, a friend who has traveled a similar road, and someone to hold out the hand of Jesus so they may find healing, comfort, hope, and, most importantly, eternal life. Her special memories of early childhood were interrupted when her dad was drafted into World War II at the age of thirty-nine. She, her mother, and two older brothers survived some lean years during her dads absence from the family as well as and his newly formed business venture. These few years of change at the age of five had a lifelong effect on her growing up years. The memories that lingered were both happy and sad, good and bad, and several tragic ones that never leave her mind. This book was written as a means of expressing her gratitude to family and friends for their part they played in making such precious memories in her life. They are written for future generations of family who will know their grandparents or great-grandparents personalities through these stories. In each situation you can see the various characters and feel the emotions that make them both real and significant to each precious memory related by the writer.

Nothing will stand in her way-not even the rare genetic disorder the doctors say will slowly steal her memories and then her health. So the memory book is born: a journal written to Sammie's future self. It's where she'll record every perfect detail of her first date with longtime-crush Stuart, and where she'll admit how much she's missed her childhood friend Cooper. Book excerpt: This is the story of a woman's life written in a series of autobiographical sketches. The depression years in rural Arkansas and Texas were an essential part of her formative years and the details she gives of that era are fascinating reading. Her complex, extended family is also an important part of her story and she occasionally stops to give us vivid portraits of some of the main characters among her numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins (who were numbered by the dozens). As her life unfolds there are accounts of the cultural shock of moving to California, of the effect of the '60's revolution on her marriage, of her experience of motherhood, and of the businesses in which she and her husband engaged. Their retirement years in Mexico introduce still another cultural backdrop, which she paints in her vivid way with bold colors. When at last this intensely reactive woman approaches old age she finds herself in a veterans' home in California. After first rebelling, she decides that she likes old age and that the unique features of her new home open possibilities she had never before considered. The death of her husband just a year after moving to the Veterans' Home was a tragedy and a trauma. Eventually it pushed her further in the direction of considering new possibilities for herself. She had always been a book lover and a writer of stories and now she decided to put a finishing touch on her life by publishing a book of her own. Her it is a finished product.

Book excerpt: Andrea Barber grew up in front of the world on the beloved sitcom Full House, but then abruptly left Hollywood. Why did she leave and what did she do for twenty years out of the spotlight before returning to television? Find out in her funny and inspiring memoir about fame, heartache, resilience--and the reboot of a lifetime... Andrea Barber is known to millions worldwide as Kimmy Gibbler, star of the hit 90s sitcom Full House, and the Netflix sequel, Fuller House. In this funny, heartfelt book, Andrea takes readers behind the scenes of her odd Hollywood career and beyond. She shares how anxiety, particularly postpartum anxiety, derailed her life, and how she was able to take back control and serve as inspiration for others. Refreshingly honest and deeply personal, Andrea writes in a way that feels like catching up with an old friend. Get ready to laugh, reminisce, and finally get to know the woman behind the zany next door neighbor . . . When Kimmy Gibbler burst into the Tanners' home on Full House in 1987, audiences immediately connected with the confident and quirky pre-teen character, played by ten-year-old actress Andrea Barber. During an eight-season run on one of the most popular series of the '80s and '90s, Andrea came of age in front of millions. But she was as far removed from her character as a girl can get. The introverted young star was plagued with self-doubt, insecurities, and debilitating anxieties that left her questioning her identity after the show's cancelation. Andrea wouldn't return to the public eye until 2016, for Fuller House. So what happened in those intervening decades that Andrea jokingly calls "the lost years?" For starters, Andrea never stopped working. But it was on a series of life-changing transitions: earning a college degree, then a Master's, building a career in international education, getting married, and starting a family. She also faced some unforeseeable transitions: navigating a sudden divorce after nearly twelve years of marriage, and second-guessing her capabilities as a single mother. But it was her devastating bout with post-partum anxiety and depression that derailed Andrea's life--and became a crucial turning point. Full Circle is a raw, refreshingly honest look into the life of a celebrity who has never been fully comfortable in the spotlight. Here Andrea shares her deeply personal struggles with mental health in a way she has never done before. She opens up about fighting her way back and finding solace--while finding herself--all before her life came full circle with her costars and lifelong friends on Fuller House. Sharing her journey from child star, to champion of mental health, and back to stardom, Andrea writes in a way that feels like catching up with an old friend. You'll laugh, reminisce, and finally get to know the woman behind the zany next door neighbor. "Funny, smart, inspiring, raw, and honest." --Candace Cameron Bure "A great read from a multi-talented actress, author, and comedienne!" --Jodie Sweetin "Brave, open, and so very human." --Tan France, Queer Eye, and author of Naturally Tan "Prepare to be entertained and inspired." --Lori Gottlieb, New York Times bestselling author of Maybe You Should Talk to Someone: A Therapist, Her Therapist, and Our Lives Revealed "Andrea speaks from her heart with language that every mom, every person, can relate to. . . . Wonderfully written." --Karen Kleiman, Founder, The Postpartum Stress Center, author of Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts

Book excerpt: In the deceptively calm lull between World War II and Vietnam, the United States faced one of its most important challenges: the battle to establish precedents for true racial equality. In a small Southern town, segregation and racial bias erupt in the lives of four children. Black siblings Jeremiah, Sarah Mae, and Wallace will cross paths with a White boy, Glen Dale, in a way that will leave all of them changed forever. In navigating their way through an oppressive town in the wake of a murder, their lives will depend on whether they can throw off the ideologies and indoctrinations that have enslaved them all. One of these children will have a hard journey toward adjusting their perspective. Narrated by children and beautifully written in authentic dialect that gives a deeply intimate look at each character, this thought-provoking novel of childhood survival reminds us that growth and change are inevitable and necessary-but not easy.

Book excerpt: Wonderfully funny and also deeply touching, I Am One of You Forever is the story of a young boy's coming of age. Set in the hills and hollows of western North Carolina in the years around World War II, it tells of ten-year-old Jess and his family -- father, mother, grandmother, foster brother, and an odd assortment of other relatives -- who usher Jess into the adult world, with all its attendant joys and sorrows, knowledge and mystery. Jess's father is feisty, restless, and fun-loving. His mother is straitlaced and serious but accepts with grace and good humor the antics of the men of the family, a trait she learned from her own mother. Johnson Gibbs is the orphaned teenager who comes to live with them on their mountain farm. Life on the laurel-covered mountain is isolated and at times difficult, but for Jess it is made rich and remarkable through his relationship with his father and, especially, Johnson Gibbs. Visiting the farm from time to time is a gallery of eccentric relatives who are surely among the most memorable creations in recent fiction. Uncle Luden is a womanizer who left the mountains years ago for a job in California that "paid actual cash money." Uncle Gurton has a spooky way of appearing and disappearing without ever seeming to enter or exit, but it is his flowing beard, which he has apparently never trimmed and which he keeps tucked inside his overalls, that is of most fascination to Jess. Uncle Zeno is a storyteller. With the words "That puts me in mind of..." everyone around knows that he is about to launch into another of his endless tales. Uncle Runkin, who always brings his handmade coffin to sleep in whenever he visits, spends his time carving intricate designs into the coffin and trying to find just the right epitaph for his tombstone. Aunt Samantha Barefoot stops by for a brief spell, too. A country singer and cousin to Jess's grandmother, she is a woman of uncensored speech (Jess learns a lot from her) and honest emotions. Chappell tells the story of all of these characters in a series of chapters that range from fantasy and near farce to pathos. As notable for its lyrical descriptions of the rural settings as for its finely honed vernacular dialogue, I Am One of You Forever shows us a world full of wit and wisdom and the sadness at the heart of things. As one would expect from a poet like Fred Chappell, every line offers its own pleasures and satisfactions.
