Download or read book Patriot Royal written by Russ Pottle and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2010-06-01 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Patriot Royal takes you on a journey to the time of the American Revolution where you will relive the violent, miraculous birth of a nation as seen through the eyes of the representative central character -- Charles Royal -- who undergoes a personal revolution all his own. There are villains here as well as heroes; the bold, the occasionally bold, and the downright cowardly. And a few who will make you laugh right out loud. You will find love here -- unrequited and requited. Loyalty, betrayal, and redemption. There are formal set-piece military engagements involving thousands of soldiers in uniformed pageantry. There are bloody skirmishes too, and intensely personal battles that are waged within. You will be expected to endure all the formidable allies of armed conflict: battle wounds, illness, starvation, bitter cold, blistering heat, loneliness and despair. You will meet the enemy, come to know him well -- but you will never learn to hate him. Having said all this, you may be surprised to learn that this is not a tale of war, but of people. Some from the living past. Others imagined representatives of people whose lives and times beg for telling. They are all ready and anxiously waiting to escort you to a different, exciting, turbulent, history making, history shaping era. Let the journey begin

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alex Gino, the Lambda Literary Award-winning author of Melissa, is back with another sensitive tale based on increasingly relevant social justice issues. Jilly thinks she's figured out how life works. But when her sister, Emma, is born deaf, she realizes how much she still has to learn. The world is going to treat Jilly, who is white and hearing, differently from Emma, just as it will treat them both differently from their Black cousins. A big fantasy reader, Jilly makes a connection online with another fantasy fan, Derek, who is a Deaf, Black ASL user. She goes to Derek for help with Emma but doesn't always know the best way or time to ask for it. As she and Derek meet in person, have some really fun conversations, and become friends, Jilly makes some mistakes . . . but comes to understand that it's up to her, not Derek to figure out how to do better next time--especially when she wants to be there for Derek the most. Within a world where kids like Derek and Emma aren't assured the same freedom or safety as kids like Jilly, Jilly is starting to learn all the things she doesn't know--and by doing that, she's also working to discover how to support her family and her friends. With You Don’t Know Everything, Jilly P!, award-winning author Alex Gino uses their trademark humor, heart, and humanity to show readers how being open to difference can make you a better person, and how being open to change can make you change in the best possible ways.

Book Synopsis Detroit, Lenacrave and Cleveland by : Brooke!
Download or read book Detroit, Lenacrave and Cleveland written by Brooke! and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was almost as hard headed as it gets while repeatedly insisting on missing and ignoring the entire point that Mom and a few others tried to get me to realize. "GET YOUR EDUCATION!!!" I still had some great times here and there every now and then, and I can only imagine how beautiful-my-life-would-have-been if I would have followed the "The Golden Rules." Some wonderful things have happened to me even though I still feel that I truly did not deserve or even know how to sincerely enjoy thoroughly, but on the other hand, some not so wonderful things have happened to me that I basically brought on myself as a direct result of not following "The Golden Rules." EDUCATION IS A MUST!!! I know my family was not the only family that has gone through a divorce, and I know there are millions of kids who went through divorce without a scratch. I am not blaming any of my failures as a man on the pitfalls of divorce, but I can clearly see now that my "character flaws" were a direct hit stemming from the casualties of my parents divorce. I did not ask to be me, and I certainly did not ask or expect to be stuck on stupid for almost three tenths of a century. It was what it was! If I would have known their divorce would eventually effect me which I believe set the wheels in motion that turned towards me turning out the way I have, I would have started Praying that night. But I had no idea it would, and neither did they. I can only imagine how beautiful my life would have been if their marriage was meant to be, but it was not about me. Brooke!
Book Synopsis Shame on You by : Elizabeth F. Christensen
Download or read book Shame on You written by Elizabeth F. Christensen and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-06-07 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The next day, the women woke up at noon. They were still talking about the wonderful party. They had arranged with the kitchen to serve leftovers for brunch in a picnic basket. They decided to eat in the garden with the ocean view right in front of them. Gloria felt as if nothing ever could go wrong for her again. She was mentally trying to capture this moment as a snapshot in her mind. After the brunch, they met Mr. Shepard in the hallway. He told her that, now that she had received her new name, he wanted to take her to a new level in her life. He wanted to introduce somebody important to her. It turned out to be seven women all standing on a line in the hallway, but she could not see their faces because they were all covered behind veils. Their dresses were all seven different colors. Gloria was wondering what this was all about, but she knew by now that her father always had her best interest in mind, which made her relax, but it did not prevent her from being curious. The seven women were connected to seven doors here in the cottage, Mr. Shepard explained. Every door is leading into to a room, with seven different challenges. You have to pass one before you can go on to the next. If you should want to procrastinate, you will have to go through it later on. Remember that its a test and that you've got what it takes. The challenges you will face are made specifically to fit you. But they have been carefully planned to challenge you as well, to build you up, and to make you stronger no matter what you might face behind a door or what you feel about the challenges. If it doesnt challenge you, it doesnt change you.

With steamed-over windows, the lovers never saw the girls coming as they hopped on the trunk, dashed over the top of the car, and down the hoodmost likely scaring the couples in the car half to death.
