But a passion within drew him to want to experience new adventures. In his adult life he has hunted the mountain tops of Alaska and New Zealand and traversed the plains and bushveld of Africa as well as other destinations near and far. Following Footsteps chronicles his life in the outdoors from his childhood days hunting with his father and grandfather to his current expeditions. Newland also discusses hunting’s relationship to wildlife conservation and the role he now plays in Safari Club International. He believes that organizations like SCI, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Wild Turkey Foundation are responsible for the robust wildlife population we enjoy in America. Following Footsteps shares heartfelt stories of the author’s bond to his past and exciting tales of the adventures he has taken around the globe

Is it that desire to find belief and comfort in the possibility that life continues after the physical body has died and turned to ash? ...The recent proliferation of "ghost-hunting" shows on TV, and "found-footage" style movies (Grave Encounters, Blair Witch, etc) further speaks to our own obsessions with the paranormal, and the desire to find answers as they pertain to the possibility of our species' extended existence - here's an entire anthology dedicated to that very subject! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book written in English about two of Eastern Europe’s premier hunting destinations. The book is animated by the author’s desire to share this little-known sporting paradise with educated hunters. The chapters detail game he has hunted over the past three decades, including stag, boar, roebuck, bear, wolf, chamois, capercaillie, pheasants, mouflon sheep, and ducks in areas that regularly produce world-class trophies and yet remain unknown to even the most experienced hunters. The hunting culture and traditions of Romania and Hungary, which figured so prominently in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, profoundly influenced the development of European, and international, hunting. By sharing the latest facts about the finest hunting areas, hunting seasons, and firearms and equipment, the author hopes to awaken an appreciation for all the best that Hungary and Romania offer sportsmen. Skyhorse Publishing is proud to publish a broad range of books for hunters and firearms enthusiasts. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this tribute to a pioneer conservationist, Duane M. Leach celebrates the life of an exceptional ranch manager on a legendary Texas ranch, a visionary for wildlife and modern ranch management, and an extraordinarily dedicated and generous man. Caesar Kleberg went to work on the King Ranch in 1900. For almost thirty years he oversaw the operations of the sprawling Norias division, a vast acreage in South Texas where he came to appreciate the importance of rangeland not only for cattle but also for wildlife. Creating a wildlife management and conservation initiative far ahead of its time, Kleberg established strict hunting rules and a program of enlightened habitat restoration. Because of his efforts and foresight, by his death in 1946 there were more white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bobwhite quail, javelinas, and mourning dove on the King Ranch than in the rest of the state. Kleberg’s legacy lives on at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute in Kingsville, where a research program he helped found has gained recognition far beyond the pastures of Norias.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the beginning of time, there has been a struggle between men and women in their relationships and marriages. The differences between men and women, in particularly with regard to how they both act, think, and behave, is obvious to anyone. Unfortunately, in our modern world, circumstances have evolved to a point where most men, and especially for men of any wealth, power, or fame, are being unjustly vilified by women of all ages and are being blamed for every injustice that any woman has either actually endured or believes in her own mind that she has suffered. In the justice system in the United States of America, an accused individual is supposed to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. That is no longer the case. Men who are accused by any woman of some impropriety toward them are instantly assumed to be guilty, and their reputations, careers, financial well-being, marriages, and public status are being destroyed on a daily basis. Any accusation against any man, no matter how long ago their transgressions supposedly took place, are grounds for dragging him through the media and press in order to destroy him. The definitions of transgressions by men toward women have also been redefined by women in our society so that the mere act of speaking to any woman may now be declared a criminal act. Over the last several years, there has been the evolution of the Me Too movement by women which is allegedly intended to "empower" women to "speak out against" men who have "done them wrong" at any point in time that they can remember. In recent times, men of power and fame in our country have been accused of all sorts of evil and criminal actions against "unsuspecting and innocent" women of all ages. This book is intended for the men of the world, especially to those living in the United States, to be made aware of what they are risking in their personal and professional lives when dealing with any woman. Men need to be aware that relationships with women in our modern society are fraught with personal risk, pitfalls, and potential disaster, including the loss of their freedom. All men, from the teenage years to those of middle and old age, need to be aware of what can easily happen to them at the hands of the women that they let into their lives. Men need to understand how women can easily manipulate them and unjustly accuse them of all sorts of things. Men need to understand that any women whom they choose to become involved with are not the cute, little, innocent and naive "flowers" that they would like to believe that they are. All women become involved with men to achieve their own agenda. The "fairy tale" of living happily ever after with any woman is a "man trap."

Book excerpt: Calling is the art of deception. One creates a false, but convincing, illusion. There are many methods of calling. This is old knowledge that is currently being rediscovered by modern science. Whitetails rely on three primary sensory systems for survival-auditory, visual and olfactory. Therefore, they can be tricked on any of these levels. The main objective of any form of calling is to manipulate a deer to approach within comfortable shooting distance. This book offers techniques and tactics for luring in whitetails. It illustrates how to fool all three senses of the whitetail.
