Book excerpt: Contemporary or traditional? Blended or seeker? Pop or "classical"? Chorus or hymn? Combo or organ? Questions concerning music in worship abound these days. Is there a practical way to deal with these issues? In "Music and Ministry: A Biblical Counterpoint," Calvin Johansson looks to God's Word for principles foundational to music ministry. Weaving together great scriptural truths, he establishes the need for a "directional balance" between pastoral contextualization and prophetic purity. In a time of facile musical accommodation of the gospel to culture, Dr. Johansson suggests that a heightened concern for musical style and quality is in order" not for the sake of music, but for the sake of the gospel.

Book Synopsis Equipping the Church Choir for Ministry by : Eli Wilson, Jr.
Download or read book Equipping the Church Choir for Ministry written by Eli Wilson, Jr. and published by . This book was released on 2008-10 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is Volume 2 of a three-part series on active/active systems. It describes techniques that can be used today for extending system failure times from years to centuries, often at little or no additional cost. As our daily lives and corporate well-being become more dependent upon computers, system reliability grows increasingly important. No longer are frequent system outages acceptable. In many cases, failure intervals must now be measured in centuries. Starting with a summary of Volume 1, techniques for achieving extraordinary availabilities are reviewed. These techniques use active/active architectures, in which multiple independent nodes using a common distributed database are cooperating in a common application. Should a node fail, all that is required is to switch the users on that node to a surviving node. Equally important to the achievement of high availability is the ability to upgrade the system hardware and software without denying service to the users. The procedures to do this within an active/active system are described. The secret to high availability is to let it fail, but fix it fast. This volume explores the server, database, and network redundancy techniques that allow fast-fix to happen. The cost considerations involved in such redundant architectures are also explored.

Download or read book THE MUSIC MINISTRY written by GODSWORD GODSWILL ONU and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-03-22 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The music ministry is considered as one of the ministry of helps. It is not listed as one of the five ministry-gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, although any person with any of the ministry-gifts may have the music ministry upon him. The music ministry helps both the ministers of the Gospel and the other Believers in the Body of Christ Jesus. Music lifts up the spirit of man, and it draws the Presence of God to the scene. The Bible says, "But Thou art holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel" (Psa. 22:3). God inhabits (and is enthroned in) the praises of His people. You remember that the Lord Jesus Christ says that wherever two or three persons are gathered together in His Name, He is there with them in their midst!
