Book Synopsis Multidimensional Data Processing for Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging by : James Patrick McLean
Download or read book Multidimensional Data Processing for Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging written by James Patrick McLean and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-resolution video data showing cilia motion in unprecedented detail and scale was produced. An image processing method was used to create the first 3-D fiber model of uterine tissue from OCT images. Finally, a compressed sensing approach was developed which we show to guarantee high accuracy image recovery of more complicated, clinically relevant, samples than had been previously demonstrated. The culmination of these methods represents a step forward in OCT image analysis, showing that these cutting edge tools can also be applied to OCT data and in the future be employed in a clinical setting.
Book Synopsis Image Processing in Optical Coherence Tomography Using Matlab by : Robert Koprowski
Download or read book Image Processing in Optical Coherence Tomography Using Matlab written by Robert Koprowski and published by Robert Koprowski. This book was released on 2011 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the results of the creation of methods for ophthalmologists support in OCT images automated analysis. These methods, like the application developed on their basis, are used during routine examinations carried out in hospital. The monograph comprises proposals of new and also of known algorithms, modified by authors, for image analysis and processing, presented on the basis of example of Matlab environment with Image Processing tools. The results are not only obtained fully automatically, but also repeatable, providing doctors with quantitative information on the degree of pathology occurring in the patient. In this case the anterior and posterior eye segment is analysed, e.g. the measurement of the filtration angle or individual layers thickness. To introduce the Readers to subtleties related to the implementation of selected fragments of algorithms, the notation of some of them in the Matlab environment has been given. The presented source code is shown only in the form of example of implementable selected algorithm. In no way we impose here the method of resolution on the Reader and we only provide the confirmation of a possibility of its practical implementation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differently oriented specialists and students involved in image processing and analysis need to have a firm grasp of concepts and methods used in this now widely utilized area. This book aims at being a single-source reference providing such foundations in the form of theoretical yet clear and easy to follow explanations of underlying generic concepts. Medical Image Processing, Reconstruction and Analysis – Concepts and Methods explains the general principles and methods of image processing and analysis, focusing namely on applications used in medical imaging. The content of this book is divided into three parts: Part I – Images as Multidimensional Signals provides the introduction to basic image processing theory, explaining it for both analogue and digital image representations. Part II – Imaging Systems as Data Sources offers a non-traditional view on imaging modalities, explaining their principles influencing properties of the obtained images that are to be subsequently processed by methods described in this book. Newly, principles of novel modalities, as spectral CT, functional MRI, ultrafast planar-wave ultrasonography and optical coherence tomography are included. Part III – Image Processing and Analysis focuses on tomographic image reconstruction, image fusion and methods of image enhancement and restoration; further it explains concepts of low-level image analysis as texture analysis, image segmentation and morphological transforms. A new chapter deals with selected areas of higher-level analysis, as principal and independent component analysis and particularly the novel analytic approach based on deep learning. Briefly, also the medical image-processing environment is treated, including processes for image archiving and communication. Features Presents a theoretically exact yet understandable explanation of image processing and analysis concepts and methods Offers practical interpretations of all theoretical conclusions, as derived in the consistent explanation Provides a concise treatment of a wide variety of medical imaging modalities including novel ones, with respect to properties of provided image data

Book Synopsis Discrete Tomography by : Gabor T. Herman
Download or read book Discrete Tomography written by Gabor T. Herman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Goals of the Book Overthelast thirty yearsthere has been arevolutionindiagnostic radiology as a result oftheemergenceofcomputerized tomography (CT), which is the process of obtaining the density distribution within the human body from multiple x-ray projections. Since an enormous variety of possible density values may occur in the body, a large number of projections are necessary to ensure the accurate reconstruction oftheir distribution. There are other situations in which we desire to reconstruct an object from its projections, but in which we know that the object to be recon structed has only a small number of possible values. For example, a large fraction of objects scanned in industrial CT (for the purpose of nonde structive testing or reverse engineering) are made of a single material and so the ideal reconstruction should contain only two values: zero for air and the value associated with the material composing the object. Similar as sumptions may even be made for some specific medical applications; for example, in angiography ofthe heart chambers the value is either zero (in dicating the absence of dye) or the value associated with the dye in the chamber. Another example arises in the electron microscopy of biological macromolecules, where we may assume that the object to be reconstructed is composed of ice, protein, and RNA. One can also apply electron mi croscopy to determine the presenceor absence ofatoms in crystallinestruc tures, which is again a two-valued situation.
