Book excerpt: The city of calgary has shown considerable interest in developing a multi-modal passenger terminal that would accommodate a via rail terminal, intercity bus terminal, local transit (buses and lrt) and a pre-boarding shuttle bus service to the airport. the major objective of this study was to investigate the possibility of relocating the via rail terminal to the new greyhound bus facility and extending the light rail transit line into the new terminal. the study also explored other possible terminal locations. although another location was found to be more suitable than the existing greyhound terminal, construction of a new building was not economically feasible. this paper reviews the site selection process and includes consideration of vehicle and pedestrian access, parking and proximity to existing transit facilities. for the covering abstrract of the conference see irrd 807127.
