Book excerpt: The world-renowned Zen monk argues for a more mindful, spiritual approach to environmental protection and activism—one that recognizes people and planet as one and the same While many experts point to the enormous complexity in addressing issues ranging from the destruction of ecosystems to the loss of millions of species, Thich Nhat Hanh identifies one key issue as having the potential to create a tipping point. He believes that we need to move beyond the concept of the “environment,” as it leads people to experience themselves and Earth as two separate entities and to see the planet only in terms of what it can do for them. Thich Nhat Hanh points to the lack of meaning and connection in peoples’ lives as being the cause of our addiction to consumerism. He deems it vital that we recognize and respond to the stress we are putting on the Earth if civilization is to survive. Rejecting the conventional economic approach, Nhat Hanh shows that mindfulness and a spiritual revolution are needed to protect nature and limit climate change. Love Letter to the Earth is a hopeful book that gives us a path to follow by showing that change is possible only with the recognition that people and the planet are ultimately one and the same.

And since she has been around for a time that we could never imagine when it started, then it is best for us to come to her sides, and allow her to hold our hands in providing for us, in caring for us, in helping us, in healing us, and in protecting us for life. Because Mother Earth is not here to hurt us, she is not here to dismember us like we are doing to her every hour of every day. But Mother Earth is here to bless us along with all the other Beings who inhabit her on her skin and even inside her belly. And so You and I are The Pioneers who are willing to take the very first steps in returning home to Mother Earth, and begin to accept our duties. You and I can join together as the true loyal children of The Great Mother, for us to fulfill our duty that a Son and Daughter have toward A Parent in protecting and loving. https://www.JamesDazouloute.Net/ - For More...

Book excerpt: Attributed to Tecumseh in the early 1800s, this statement is frequently cited to uphold the view, long and widely proclaimed in scholarly and popular literature, that Mother Earth is an ancient and central Native American Figure. In this radical and comprehensive rethinking, Sam D. Gill traces the evolution of female earth imagery in North America from the sixteenth century to the present and reveals how the evolution of the current Mother Earth figure was influenced by prevailing European-American imagery of Americaand the Indians as well as by the rapidly changing Indian identity.

Book excerpt: The theme of this new book from Nigel Graddon is Mother Earth and her magnificent powers, both visible and invisible. In extolling Mother Earth’s virtues in the face of humanity’s increasing assaults upon nature, Graddon presents a three-part narrative through the medium of crystal, “solidified light,” according to the ancients. Part 1, Physical Crystal, describes the origins of the Universe and our Earth, and the gradual evolution of the mineral kingdom in its diverse forms, which find their highest vibrational power in the mysterious world of crystal. Part 2, Amazing Crystal, examines mind-blowing uses of crystal in the past and present, and in its future potential. Among its highlights are in the past the Great Pyramids original crystal tip, the amazing legend of the Rose Queen Goddess of Languedoc, Dr. Dee’s scrying mirror and amethyst pendant, and the Black Stone and the Goddess; present day applications in science, technology and health; and exotic future applications such as Time Crystals and Quasicrystals. An extensive Part 3, Living Crystal, observes that Goddess worship as a symbol of humanity’s love for Mother Nature prevailed until relatively recently in our very long history upon Earth. Graddon examines this phenomenon in the context of the forces of living nature that maintain and nourish the physical experience. Special focus is put on the history of Goddess worship and its mysterious initiation rites. This is followed by an analysis of Mother Earth’s living forces, including the legendary Crystal Skulls of Mesoamerica; the true nature and origins of crop circles and UFOs; the work of the Elementals (the caretakers and pulse of Nature) in planet maintenance; Man, Nature and the Ancient Wisdoms; the role of the classical Four Elements in determining mans metaphysical make-up; the challenges involved in going beyond the Subconscious Mind towards a more unified and balanced experience in living life on this beautiful planet in partnership with Mother Earth and not as adversaries; an investigation of the invisible crystal structure of the Earth and its connectivity with human crystalline DNA; the power of crystals in health and healing, including color, especially as it relates to the human aura. The book concludes with an account of a San Franciscan residents amazing journey back in time to the heart of a mysterious crystal skull community in Chile’s Andean mountains. The book is populated throughout by scores of illustrations and images.

Book excerpt: This anthology seeks to explore the complex, varied, and sometimes contradictory intersections between mothers, mothering, and environmental activism in discourse and in lived experiences. It is intended to look critically, and yet hopefully, at the ways in which feminist, Indigenous, and environmentalist challenges to the western, capitalist moral imagination are linked. It explores the reach of rape culture and the ways in which a capitalist, patriarchal society interacts with the earth as a feminine-personified identity. It also shares the hope available to all women through raising a coming generation and the great power to effect change. This work endeavours to share lessons from the Earth in resistance to the continued assaults of anthropogenic capitalist industry, and to inspire new ways to course-correct, to resist, to rise up, to create differently, and to foster evolution and revolution as mothers, as women, and as hearts and minds. This volume is curated to be a space for critical discussion about representations linking environmental activism, maternality, and "mother earth," as well as a venue for creative expression and art. In keeping with its intention to provide a space for discussion of a complex and varied array of perspectives on mothers, mothering, and mother earth, this is an interdisciplinary anthology. Contributions included hail from a wide range of disciplines and fields including psychology, sociology, anthropology, women's and gender studies, cultural studies, literary studies, as well as law and legal studies. Contributions from scholars working in the fields of social science are interwoven with creative contributions from academics, writers, and artists working in fields in the humanities.

Book excerpt: When one is been robbed of all his properties by darkness, including his soul and all his entire life and family, he cannot fight darkness to reclaim all what he is being robbed. He is totally defeated because the power of darkness is stronger than him. Sitting in limbo for someone to bail you from your misery, which you call it a miracle in a matter of a second is insignificant. What we should understand is driving a negative energy force out of the front door, another negative force enters through the window with an angelic appearance with sweet melody of the taste of music you would like to hear. So waiting and sitting in limbo and depending on someone to bail you, you are living in a fantasy world that consists of hallucinated clergy and day dreamers. No one can create a paradise for you, rather it is you who hold the key to your freedom and eternity. When darkness steals all your properties and soul, just hang all your worries, just like one hangs his clothes on a wall. Fight, cling to the universal light for we do look or search for our missing items in darkness with the light. You cannot fight darkness with darkness, neither quench fire with fire but with water. Light is the main source and a combatant to darkness. Without light in you, no matter what miracle for a better change, sooner or later, the negativity covers or takes back the center seat. But once you fight to claim an unquenchable light, there will be no more loopholes in you or a back door for the return of darkness. To survive all the great battles, you must conquer and rule yourself with the inner peace of light to reinstate the lost innocence that is not borrowed identity but the undefiled. Peace and love. Amen Amen Amen

Book excerpt: For nearly a century, the worldwide anthroposophical movement has been a catalyst for environmental activism, helping to bring to life many modern ecological practices such as organic farming, community-supported agriculture, and green banking. Yet the spiritual practice of anthroposophy remains unknown to most environmentalists. A historical and ethnographic study of the environmental movement, Eco-Alchemy uncovers for the first time the profound influences of anthroposophy and its founder, Rudolf Steiner, whose holistic worldview, rooted in esoteric spirituality, inspired the movement. Dan McKanan shows that environmentalism is itself a complex ecosystem and that it would not be as diverse or transformative without the contributions of anthroposophy.
