Download or read book Models of Venus Atmosphere (1972). written by Richard B. Noll and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Criteria were developed in the following areas: environment, structures, guidance and control, and chemical propulsion. Quantitative data for the Venus atmosphere were obtained from earth-based observations and from spacecraft which have entered the Venus atmosphere or passed within several planetary radii of the planet. The models provide the temperature, pressure, and density profiles required to perform basic aerodynamic analyses. A set of engineering models are provided for the Venus atmosphere, based on theory and measured data available in January 1972.

Download or read book Towards Understanding the Climate of Venus written by Lennart Bengtsson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-09 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ESA’s Venus Express Mission has monitored Venus since April 2006, and scientists worldwide have used mathematical models to investigate its atmosphere and model its circulation. This book summarizes recent work to explore and understand the climate of the planet through a research program under the auspices of the International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in Bern, Switzerland. Some of the unique elements that are discussed are the anomalies with Venus’ surface temperature (the huge greenhouse effect causes the surface to rise to 460°C, without which would plummet as low as -40°C), its unusual lack of solar radiation (despite being closer to the Sun, Venus receives less solar radiation than Earth due to its dense cloud cover reflecting 76% back) and the juxtaposition of its atmosphere and planetary rotation (wind speeds can climb up to 200 m/s, much faster than Venus’ sidereal day of 243 Earth-days).
Book Synopsis The Thermodynamic Properties and Shock-wave Characteristics of a Model Venus Atmosphere by : Warren C. Strahle
Download or read book The Thermodynamic Properties and Shock-wave Characteristics of a Model Venus Atmosphere written by Warren C. Strahle and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model for the atmosphere of Venus is developed which may be useful for design studies of early atmospheric-entry vehicles and for wind-tunnel simulation application. This atmosphere, derived from many questionable assumptions and scant experimental data, consists of 85% carbon dioxide and 15% nitrogen by volume. The thermodynamic properties of the derived atmospheric composition are presented over the temperaturepressure range of 150 to 24,000 K and 1/10,000 to 100 atm. To further assist in aerodynamic entry calculations, normal-shock-wave characteristics of such an atmosphere are also presented. The fact that nitrogen is present has important consequences in the thermodynamic properties and electron concentrations over the full temperature and pressure range. The effects are of the order of the percentage of nitrogen addition to pure carbon dioxide. A graphical method of obtaining oblique-shock-wave data and a method of obtaining electron concentrations at low temperatures are included as appendixes. (Author).
