Esta influencia no es reciente, pero la impresión de que ahora experimentamos cambios educativos irreversibles sí son recientes. Incluso los procesos, los motivos y los propósitos educativos están siendo revalorados por el hecho mismo de que la tecnología digital inaugura horizontes desafiantes. Quizá los escenarios más tradicionales al respecto son los modelos de educación virtual. Sin embargo, paralelamente están surgiendo y proliferando más recursos educativos inéditos, como los multiversos educativos o las aplicaciones de inteligencia artificial. Estos y muchos otros recursos han servido para introducir novedades en los procesos formales de educación, pero al mismo tiempo han incorporado sorpresas que no siempre orientan hacia el aprendizaje, sino a la distracción o a la dispersión. Por eso, los especialistas han llamado la atención sobre la necesidad de registrar el uso puntual de los nuevos recursos digitales en la educación; pero, sobre todo, la necesidad de formular nuevas reflexiones para repensar la educación misma. En otras palabras, es tan necesario comprender la dimensión instrumental de la tecnología digital en la educación, como la teorización al respecto. El libro Modelo operativo de la educación transdigital es el resultado de cuatro años de investigación doctoral. Su autora, la flamante doctora Rosalba Palacios-Díaz, desarrolló una labor sistemática y rigurosa partiendo de las nociones conceptuales del término transdigital, pero aplicó esas nociones en un ámbito específico: el modelo operativo de un proceso educativo universitario. El resultado es un estudio que yace, específicamente, en el lindero donde se encuentra el desarrollo de prototipos educativos que usan tecnología digital, y la reflexión teórica inductiva.
