Con el propósito de lograr un conocimiento actualizado sobre la situación de la orientación vocacional en la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL) caso: Instituto Pedagógico Rural "El Mácaro" (IPREM), el diseño se enmarco dentro del paradigma de investigación cualitativa, la investigación de campo, fenomenológica y etnográfica y se vinculó con la indagación documental descriptiva. Los informantes se seleccionaron intencionalmente quedando constituida la muestra por 30 estudiantes y los 5 profesionales adscritos al servicio de orientación de la Unidad de desarrollo y Bienestar Estudiantil (UDBE). Se emplearon las técnicas de: la entrevista y la observación participativa, las cuales llevaron a la búsqueda de información sobre el proceso de orientación que se desarrolla en la UPEL. El registro de la indagación se llevó a cabo mediante las notas de campo, planillas de observación, los cuestionarios abiertos no directivos y la conversación guiada. El análisis de los resultados se efectuó a través de la categorización, recategorización, anotaciones especiales y triangulación de la información, con el fin de proponer alternativas que propicien el desarrollo de la orientación como proceso indispensable en el ciclo de vida de las personas. Se comprobó que en el IPREM no se realizan programas de orientación que propicien el desarrollo del estudiante; esto se evidenció en las entrevistas realizadas a los informantes, quienes exteriorizaron su necesidad de ser orientados en todos los aspectos relacionados con el desarrollo personal y de carrera, por lo tanto se creó un modelo alternativo integral de orientación vocacional que tomó en cuenta todos los factores que inciden el de desarrollo integral del e
