Book Synopsis RESEAUX D'ONDELETTES ET RESEAUX DE NEURONES POUR LA MODELISATION STATIQUE ET DYNAMIQUE DE PROCESSUS by : YACINE.. OUSSAR
Download or read book RESEAUX D'ONDELETTES ET RESEAUX DE NEURONES POUR LA MODELISATION STATIQUE ET DYNAMIQUE DE PROCESSUS written by YACINE.. OUSSAR and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DURANT LES DIX DERNIERES ANNEES, LES RESEAUX DE NEURONES A FONCTIONS SIGMOIDALES ONT CONNU DE GRANDS SUCCES DANS DE NOMBREUX DOMAINES. ASSOCIES A DES ALGORITHMES D'APPRENTISSAGE EFFICACES, ILS CONSTITUENT UN PUISSANT OUTIL DE MODELISATION NON LINEAIRE DE PROCESSUS, GRACE A LEUR PROPRIETE D'APPROXIMATION UNIVERSELLE PARCIMONIEUSE. CE TRAVAIL DE THESE PROPOSE UNE MISE EN UVRE DE RESEAUX D'ONDELETTES, ALTERNATIVE POSSIBLE AUX RESEAUX DE NEURONES, POUR LA MODELISATION STATIQUE ET DYNAMIQUE. LES ONDELETTES SONT UNE FAMILLE DE FONCTIONS ISSUES DU TRAITEMENT DU SIGNAL ET DE L'IMAGE, DONT IL A ETE RECEMMENT MONTRE QU'ELLES POSSEDENT LA PROPRIETE D'APPROXIMATEUR UNIVERSEL. LA MISE EN UVRE DES RESEAUX D'ONDELETTES EST EFFECTUEE SUIVANT DEUX APPROCHES : - APPROCHE FONDEE SUR LA TRANSFORMEE CONTINUE: LES PARAMETRES DES FONCTIONS SONT A VALEURS CONTINUES DANS L'ENSEMBLE DES NOMBRES REELS ET PEUVENT DONC ETRE AJUSTES, COMME CEUX D'UN RESEAU DE NEURONES CLASSIQUE, A L'AIDE DE METHODES DE GRADIENT. NOUS PROPOSONS DES RESEAUX ET DES ALGORITHMES D'APPRENTISSAGE POUR LA MODELISATION ENTREE-SORTIE ET D'ETAT. LES RESULTATS OBTENUS SUR DES PROCESSUS SIMULES ET REEL MONTRENT QUE CES RESEAUX PERMETTENT D'OBTENIR DES MODELES DE PERFORMANCE ET DE PARCIMONIE EQUIVALENTES A CELLES DES RESEAUX DE NEURONES SI DES PRECAUTIONS DE MISE EN UVRE SONT PRISES. - APPROCHE FONDEE SUR LA TRANSFORMEE DISCRETE: LES PARAMETRES DES FONCTIONS ETANT A VALEURS DISCRETES, LES APPRENTISSAGES FONDES SUR DES METHODES DE GRADIENT NE SONT PAS APPLICABLES. NOUS PROPOSONS DE CONSTRUIRE DES RESEAUX PAR SELECTION D'ONDELETTES DANS UNE BIBLIOTHEQUE PRE-ETABLIE. CETTE PROCEDURE EST EGALEMENT UTILISEE POUR L'INITIALISATION DES PARAMETRES DES ONDELETTES AVANT LEUR APPRENTISSAGE. LES RESULTATS OBTENUS MONTRENT QUE LA PROCEDURE PROPOSEE CONFERE A L'APPRENTISSAGE UNE MEILLEURE INDEPENDANCE VIS-A-VIS DE L'INITIALISATION ALEATOIRE DES AUTRES PARAMETRES AJUSTABLES DU RESEAU.

Book Synopsis Life Insurance Mathematics by : Hans U. Gerber
Download or read book Life Insurance Mathematics written by Hans U. Gerber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HaIley's Comet has been prominently displayed in many newspapers during the last few months. For the first time in 76 years it appeared this winter, clearly visible against the nocturnal sky. This is an appropriate occasion to point out the fact that Sir Edmund Halley also constructed the world's first life table in 1693, thus creating the scientific foundation of life insurance. Halley's life table and its successors were viewed as deterministic laws, i. e. the number of deaths in any given group and year was considered to be a weIl defined number that could be calculated by means of a life table. However, in reality this number is random. Thus any mathematical treatment of life insurance will have to rely more and more on prob ability theory. By sponsoring this monograph the Swiss Association of Actuaries wishes to support the "modern" probabilistic view oflife contingencies. We are fortu nate that Professor Gerber, an internationally renowned expert, has assumed the task of writing the monograph. We thank the Springer-Verlag and hope that this monograph will be the first in a successful series of actuarial texts. Hans Bühlmann Zürich, March 1986 President Swiss Association of Actuaries Preface Two major developments have influenced the environment of actuarial math ematics. One is the arrival of powerful and affordable computers; the once important problem of numerical calculation has become almost trivial in many instances.

Download or read book Baudrillard Now written by Ryan Bishop and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The writings of Jean Baudrillard have dramatically altered the face of critical theory and promise to pose challenges well into the 21st century. His work on simulation, media, the status of the image, the system of objects, hyperreality, and information technology continues to influence intellectual work in a diverse set of fields. This volume uniquely provides overviews of Baudrillards career while also simultaneously including examples of current works on and with Baudrillard that engage some of the many and varied ways Baudrillard's work is being addressed, deployed, and critiqued in the present. As such, it offers chapters useful to the novice and the well-versed in critical theory and Baudrillard Studies alike. Contributors to the volume include John Armitage, John Beck, Ryan Bishop, Doug Kellner, John Phillips and Mark Poster. No less controversial today than he was in the past, Baudrillard continues to divide intellectuals and academicians, an issue this volume addresses by re-engaging the writing itself without falling into either simplistic dismissal or solipsistic cheerleading, but rather by taking the fecundity operative in the thought and meeting its consistent challenge. Baudrillard Now provokes sustained interaction with one of philosophy?s most important, provocative and stimulating thinkers.
Book Synopsis Semiparametric Theory and Missing Data by : Anastasios Tsiatis
Download or read book Semiparametric Theory and Missing Data written by Anastasios Tsiatis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-01-15 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes current knowledge regarding the theory of estimation for semiparametric models with missing data, in an organized and comprehensive manner. It starts with the study of semiparametric methods when there are no missing data. The description of the theory of estimation for semiparametric models is both rigorous and intuitive, relying on geometric ideas to reinforce the intuition and understanding of the theory. These methods are then applied to problems with missing, censored, and coarsened data with the goal of deriving estimators that are as robust and efficient as possible.

Download or read book Buyology written by Martin Lindstrom and published by Currency. This book was released on 2010-02-02 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “A fascinating look at how consumers perceive logos, ads, commercials, brands, and products.”—Time How much do we know about why we buy? What truly influences our decisions in today’s message-cluttered world? In Buyology, Martin Lindstrom presents the astonishing findings from his groundbreaking three-year, seven-million-dollar neuromarketing study—a cutting-edge experiment that peered inside the brains of 2,000 volunteers from all around the world as they encountered various ads, logos, commercials, brands, and products. His startling results shatter much of what we have long believed about what captures our interest—and drives us to buy. Among the questions he explores: • Does sex actually sell? • Does subliminal advertising still surround us? • Can “cool” brands trigger our mating instincts? • Can our other senses—smell, touch, and sound—be aroused when we see a product? Buyology is a fascinating and shocking journey into the mind of today's consumer that will captivate anyone who's been seduced—or turned off—by marketers' relentless attempts to win our loyalty, our money, and our minds.

Book Synopsis The Computer from Pascal to von Neumann by : Herman H. Goldstine
Download or read book The Computer from Pascal to von Neumann written by Herman H. Goldstine and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2008-09-02 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1942, Lt. Herman H. Goldstine, a former mathematics professor, was stationed at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. It was there that he assisted in the creation of the ENIAC, the first electronic digital computer. The ENIAC was operational in 1945, but plans for a new computer were already underway. The principal source of ideas for the new computer was John von Neumann, who became Goldstine's chief collaborator. Together they developed EDVAC, successor to ENIAC. After World War II, at the Institute for Advanced Study, they built what was to become the prototype of the present-day computer. Herman Goldstine writes as both historian and scientist in this first examination of the development of computing machinery, from the seventeenth century through the early 1950s. His personal involvement lends a special authenticity to his narrative, as he sprinkles anecdotes and stories liberally through his text.
Book Synopsis Conceptual Basis, Formalisations and Parameterization of the Stics Crop Model by : Nadine Brisson
Download or read book Conceptual Basis, Formalisations and Parameterization of the Stics Crop Model written by Nadine Brisson and published by Editions Quae. This book was released on 2009-01-19 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The STICS crop model has been developed since 1996 at INRA in collaboration with other research and technical institutes. The model syntheses, illustrates and concretizes an important part of the French agronomic knowledge as a point of view on the field and cropping systems working. The formalisations of the STICS crop model presented in this book can be considered as references used in the framework of crop sciences. The book arrangement relies on the way the model designs the crop-soil system functioning, each chapter being devoted to a set of important functions such as growth initiation, yield onset, water uptake, transformation of organic matter etc. One chapter deals with the cropping system and long term simulations and the final chapter is about the involvement of the user in terms of option choices and parameterization. If this book is mainly intended for scientists who use the STICS model, it can also be useful for agronomists, crop modellers, students and technicians looking for elementary formalizations of the crop-soil system functioning.
