Book Synopsis Internal Combustion Engines by : Colin R. Ferguson
Download or read book Internal Combustion Engines written by Colin R. Ferguson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the publication of the Second Edition in 2001, there have been considerable advances and developments in the field of internal combustion engines. These include the increased importance of biofuels, new internal combustion processes, more stringent emissions requirements and characterization, and more detailed engine performance modeling, instrumentation, and control. There have also been changes in the instructional methodologies used in the applied thermal sciences that require inclusion in a new edition. These methodologies suggest that an increased focus on applications, examples, problem-based learning, and computation will have a positive effect on learning of the material, both at the novice student, and practicing engineer level. This Third Edition mirrors its predecessor with additional tables, illustrations, photographs, examples, and problems/solutions. All of the software is ‘open source’, so that readers can see how the computations are performed. In addition to additional java applets, there is companion Matlab code, which has become a default computational tool in most mechanical engineering programs.

Book Synopsis The Effect of Spray Initial Conditions on Heat Release and Emissions in LDI Cfd Calculations by : National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa
Download or read book The Effect of Spray Initial Conditions on Heat Release and Emissions in LDI Cfd Calculations written by National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-01-14 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mass and velocity distribution of liquid spray has a primary effect on the combustion heat release process. This heat release process then affects emissions like nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO). Computational Fluid Dynamics gives the engineer insight into these processes, but various setup options exist (number of droplet groups, and initial droplet temperature) for spray initial conditions. This paper studies these spray initial condition options using the National Combustion Code (NCC) on a single swirler lean direct injection (LDI) flame tube. Using laminar finite rate chemistry, comparisons are made against experimental data for velocity measurements, temperature, and emissions (NOx, CO). Book Synopsis IUTAM Symposium on Turbulent Mixing and Combustion by : Andrew Pollard
Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Turbulent Mixing and Combustion written by Andrew Pollard and published by Boom Koninklijke Uitgevers. This book was released on 2002-07-31 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains reviewed papers. The invited lectures considered the many challenges posed by adding one element to the base formed by others: turbulence and turbulent mixing in the absence of combustion through to turbulent mixing dominated by chemistry and combustion. The Symposium benefited from experimental, theoretical and computational contributions, which were focussed on either fundamental or more practical questions. Extensive discussions that followed each paper are included and add to the richness of the Proceedings.
