Download or read book Modeling Attraction-end Choice for Urban Recreational Trips written by Michael A. Pozsgay and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attraction-end choice studies have primarily focused on non-urban recreational trips or non-recreational urban trips. Relatively little attention has been focused in the literature on urban recreational trips. In contrast, urban recreational trips are contributing increasingly to overall urban travel. In this paper, the authors examine attraction-end choice models for home-based urban recreational trips. A non-linear-in-parameters multinomial logit model is estimated using the 1996 Dallas-Fort Worth household activity survey. The effects of level-of-service, zonal attributes, trip attributes, and socio-demographic variables on recreational attraction-end choice are examined, and the implications of the results for land-use, transportation planning, and air quality analysis are discussed.

Download or read book Modeling Recreation Use in Water-related Parks written by Robert E. Coughlin and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report extends to nonreservoir parks the earlier work of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the recreation use of reservoir parks. A thorough review of the literature was followed by a test of several models including those already completed by the U.S. Army Engineer District, Sacramento. For this test, data from New York State Parks were used. The results are somewhat weaker than those obtained by the Sacramento District. This is attributed, in part, to the fact that the data were collected for another purpose and did not contain as many observations as would be desirable for a spatial analysis of this type. (Author).

This book describes the application of an advanced analytical technique, simulation modeling, (WUSM) to a significant problem in resources management. It includes ideas which have grown out of practical resource management problems that have progressed through conceptual models to operational tools and finally to application in actual public land management settings. It is similarly rewarding to see the work being adapted for use by the National Park Service and other agencies at home and abroad.
