Book Synopsis Diagnosis and Fault-tolerant Control Volume 2 by : Vicenc Puig
Download or read book Diagnosis and Fault-tolerant Control Volume 2 written by Vicenc Puig and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-12-29 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents recent advances in fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control of dynamic processes. Its impetus derives from the need for an overview of the challenges of the fault diagnosis technique and sustainable control, especially for those demanding systems that require reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety to ensure efficient operations. Moreover, the need for a high degree of tolerance with respect to possible faults represents a further key point, primarily for complex systems, as modeling and control are inherently challenging, and maintenance is both expensive and safety-critical. Diagnosis and Fault-tolerant Control 2 also presents and compares different fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant schemes, using well established, innovative strategies for modeling the behavior of the dynamic process under investigation. An updated treatise of diagnosis and fault-tolerant control is addressed with the use of essential and advanced methods including signal-based, model-based and data-driven techniques. Another key feature is the application of these methods for dealing with robustness and reliability.

Download or read book Modeling, Diagnostics and Process Control written by Józef Korbicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-19 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern control systems are complex in the sense of implementing numerous functions, such as process variable processing, digital control, process monitoring and alarm indication, graphic visualization of process running, or data exchange with other systems or databases. This book conveys a description of the developed DiaSter system as well as characteristics of advanced original methods of modeling, knowledge discovery, simulator construction, process diagnosis, as well as predictive and supervision control applied in the system. The system allows early recognition of abnormal states of industrial processes along with faults or malfunctions of actuators as well as technological and measuring units. The universality of solutions implemented in DiaSter facilitates its broad application, for example, in the power, chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical and food industries. The system is a world-scale unique solution, and due to its open architecture it can be connected practically with any other control systems. The monograph presents theoretical and practical results of research into fault diagnosis and control conducted over many years within the cooperation of Polish research teams from the Warsaw University of Technology, the University of Zielona Góra, the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, and the Technical University of Rzeszów. The book will be of great interest to researchers and advanced students in automatic control, technical diagnostics and computer engineering, and to engineers tasked with the development of advanced control systems of complex industrial processes.

Book Synopsis Model-based Fault Diagnosis in Dynamic Systems Using Identification Techniques by : Silvio Simani
Download or read book Model-based Fault Diagnosis in Dynamic Systems Using Identification Techniques written by Silvio Simani and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Safety in industrial process and production plants is a concern of rising importance but because the control devices which are now exploited to improve the performance of industrial processes include both sophisticated digital system design techniques and complex hardware, there is a higher probability of failure. Control systems must include automatic supervision of closed-loop operation to detect and isolate malfunctions quickly. A promising method for solving this problem is "analytical redundancy", in which residual signals are obtained and an accurate model of the system mimics real process behaviour. If a fault occurs, the residual signal is used to diagnose and isolate the malfunction. This book focuses on model identification oriented to the analytical approach of fault diagnosis and identification covering: choice of model structure; parameter identification; residual generation; and fault diagnosis and isolation. Sample case studies are used to demonstrate the application of these techniques.

Book Synopsis Process Modelling and Model Analysis by : Ian T. Cameron
Download or read book Process Modelling and Model Analysis written by Ian T. Cameron and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-05-23 with total page 561 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process Modelling and Model Analysis describes the use of models in process engineering. Process engineering is all about manufacturing--of just about anything! To manage processing and manufacturing systematically, the engineer has to bring together many different techniques and analyses of the interaction between various aspects of the process. For example, process engineers would apply models to perform feasibility analyses of novel process designs, assess environmental impact, and detect potential hazards or accidents. To manage complex systems and enable process design, the behavior of systems is reduced to simple mathematical forms. This book provides a systematic approach to the mathematical development of process models and explains how to analyze those models. Additionally, there is a comprehensive bibliography for further reading, a question and answer section, and an accompanying Web site developed by the authors with additional data and exercises. - Introduces a structured modeling methodology emphasizing the importance of the modeling goal and including key steps such as model verification, calibration, and validation - Focuses on novel and advanced modeling techniques such as discrete, hybrid, hierarchical, and empirical modeling - Illustrates the notions, tools, and techniques of process modeling with examples and advances applications
Book Synopsis Vehicle-Manipulator Systems by : Pål Johan From
Download or read book Vehicle-Manipulator Systems written by Pål Johan From and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-10-02 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Furthering the aim of reducing human exposure to hazardous environments, this monograph presents a detailed study of the modeling and control of vehicle-manipulator systems. The text shows how complex interactions can be performed at remote locations using systems that combine the manipulability of robotic manipulators with the ability of mobile robots to locomote over large areas. The first part studies the kinematics and dynamics of rigid bodies and standard robotic manipulators and can be used as an introduction to robotics focussing on robust mathematical modeling. The monograph then moves on to study vehicle-manipulator systems in great detail with emphasis on combining two different configuration spaces in a mathematically sound way. Robustness of these systems is extremely important and Modeling and Control of Vehicle-manipulator Systems effectively represents the dynamic equations using a mathematically robust framework. Several tools from Lie theory and differential geometry are used to obtain globally valid representations of the dynamic equations of vehicle-manipulator systems. The specific characteristics of several different types of vehicle-manipulator systems are included and the various application areas of these systems are discussed in detail. For underwater robots buoyancy and gravity, drag forces, added mass properties, and ocean currents are considered. For space robotics the effects of free fall environments and the strong dynamic coupling between the spacecraft and the manipulator are discussed. For wheeled robots wheel kinematics and non-holonomic motion is treated, and finally the inertial forces are included for robots mounted on a forced moving base. Modeling and Control of Vehicle-manipulator Systems will be of interest to researchers and engineers studying and working on many applications of robotics: underwater, space, personal assistance, and mobile manipulation in general, all of which have similarities in the equations required for modeling and control.
