Book Synopsis Bullies, Victims, and Bystanders by : Lisa H. Rosen
Download or read book Bullies, Victims, and Bystanders written by Lisa H. Rosen and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses beyond the bully-victim dyad to highlight how bullying commonly unfolds within a complex system that involves many individuals interacting with one another. As the vast majority of bullying episodes occur in front of a peer audience, this book examines the ways in which bystanders can act to either fuel or deter bullying. Each chapter highlights a particular participant role: bully, assistant, reinforcer, outsider, defender, and victim. Attention is also devoted to the important influence parents and teachers have on the peer ecology and bullying dynamics. By viewing bullying through the eyes of each individual role, the authors provide an in-depth exploration of bullying as a group process with special attention to implications for prevention and intervention. This book refreshes and expands our understanding of bullying as a group process by highlighting classic research while integrating new findings with attention to changing technology and the modernization of our society. It provides a unique resource that will appeal to teachers and educational psychologists in addition to researchers in the areas of psychology, public health, and education.

Book Synopsis Racism in Schools by : Matthias Böhmer
Download or read book Racism in Schools written by Matthias Böhmer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-22 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Racism, i.e. discrimination against people on the basis of their supposed ethnic origin, is omnipresent in schools. Apart from students, trainees and teachers, all actors in the school context are affected by this topic. Why is this so? How can racist discrimination be explained? What effects does this behavior have on those affected? And how can schools counteract it? These are all questions that arise and which this book aims to answer with the intention of enabling all those acting in the school context to critically examine their own knowledge bases relevant to racism. This book contributes to the development of school as a racism-sensitive space in which all actors behave in a racism-sensitive manner. Therefore, in addition to an overview of the history of racism, approaches to explaining racist behavior and the effects of racist discrimination, prevention and intervention approaches for a practice critical of racism in schools are presented.
Book Synopsis Bullying and Mobbing in Schools and Workplaces by : Adrian Sparlac
Download or read book Bullying and Mobbing in Schools and Workplaces written by Adrian Sparlac and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-11-30 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Considering the fact that bullying and mobbing in schools and workplaces has become a worldwide problem where tens of million people are getting hurt, many of them marked for life and even lose their lives mainly because most societies from across the world failed to protect its people, the present book is a great eye-opener on this very important matter. The uniqueness of this book lies in the author’s attempt to make a very accurate X-ray of the degrading world society, from which bullying, cyberbullying and mobbing spring. We believe that the democracy of today’s societies has moved too far away from the ethical and moral values that underlie a healthy society and this is the cause of all iniquities. That is why, in almost all countries, issues such as bullying, cyberbullying, and mobbing are only symptomatically addressed. However, let us not lose hope because there are also a couple of countries that have impressive results because they approach issues very effectively from an ethical and moral point of view. All of this is described in the contents of this book.

This book was released on 2024-04-10 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
