Book Synopsis Misguided Love by : Kevin L. Sanders
Download or read book Misguided Love written by Kevin L. Sanders and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our children are the most precious gifts in this world. They are our joy. They are our future. They are our very lives. But who is to guide them? How do they learn what to do with what they have? So many people are abused from early age. Some carry that for the remainder of their lives and they pass the affliction from generation to generation. Many are not physically abused, and yet they still suffer from the lack of knowledge. Eric was a beautiful boy on his way to manhood. He never learned about the responsibilities of love and sex. Come along on this journey of a young, charismatic teenager whose charm and naivety lead him into a world of which he never knew existed. He, like many children are misguided into believing that there is no consequence to their actions. This story is a testimony to the survival of a global epidemic that continues to deteriorate the very fabric of our societies. Protect our children. Remember it is not always what we teach them that directs their paths in life; inevitably it is what we don't. Love must be guided. Misguided love will undoubtedly fail.

Book Synopsis Mission as Penance by : Charles J. Fensham
Download or read book Mission as Penance written by Charles J. Fensham and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-05-03 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mission as Penance explores the posture of Christian mission in Canada, while also uncovering the theological roots that gave birth to the sense of cultural and religious superiority that led to profound harm to others and to God's creation. The story begins by an examination of Johan Bavinck's famous 1954 claim that "mission is thus the penance of the church which is ashamed before God and man." By drawing on his work through forty years in theological education and pastoral ministry, Fensham prescribes a pathway that liberates the church from power games, numerical growth, and preoccupation with programs and technology, to focus instead on genuine listening, solidarity, and love in action. True penance is never satisfied with passivity, nor should it result in a state of paralysis. For a posture of humble penance to be fruitful, it must lead toward concerted action toward change, advocacy for justice, compassion for the marginalized, and care for creation. If mission in Canada is engaged in this way, the Christian faith might cease to do harm and build a new life-giving community of healing.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adam who had enjoyed perfect life, its continuance conditioned on obedience to Jehovah (Gen. 2:17), now experienced in himself, the workings of sin and its fruitage, spiritual death. He was “cut off from God and true spirituality,” nevertheless his life vigor was strong, living for 930 years before physical death overtook him. He lost eternal life for himself and offspring. (Gen. 3:17, 22-23; 5:5) The apostle John, quotes Jesus Christ as saying: “God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him, will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) And Jesus Christ said: “This is eternal life, their knowing you, the only true God and the one whom you have sent, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3)
Download or read book What Love Is This? written by Dave Hunt and published by . This book was released on 2007-04-22 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many sincere, Bible-believing Christians are Calvinists only by default. Thinking that the only choice is between Calvinism (with its presumed doctrine of eternal security) and Arminianism (with its teaching that salvation can be lost), and confident of Christ's promise to keep eternally those who believe in Him, they therefore consider themselves to be Calvinists. It takes only a few simple questions to discover that most Christians are largely unaware of what John Calvin and his early followers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries actually believed and practiced. Nor do they fully understand what most of today's leading Calvinists believe. Although there are disputed variations of the Calvinist doctrine, among its chief proponents (whom we quote extensively in context) there is general agreement on certain core beliefs. Many evangelicals who think they are Calvinists will be surprised to learn of Calvin's belief in salvation through infant baptism and of his grossly un-Christian behavior, at times, as the "Protestant Pope" of Geneva, Switzerland. Most shocking of all, however, is Calvinism's misrepresentation of God, who "is love." It is our prayer that this volume will enable readers to examine more carefully the vital issues involved and to follow God's holy Word--not man's teachings. "The first edition of this book was greeted by fervent opposition and criticism from Calvinists. In this enlarged and revised edition I have endeavored to respond to the critics." --Dave Hunt

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Barbara Dixon and Rev. Robert Yarbrough, two ministers, two points of view. Sometimes we would hear what people said and we would look at each other and think, "Who told you that?' We also realized that often when we talked that we came to the same conclusion even though we got there using different language. So, we thought it might be fun and informative to take 25 topics and each write one page about the topic. When we wrote this book, Rev. Bobby was in St. Petersburg, Florida and I was in Cincinnati, Ohio and we never read what the other had written. We don't want you to believe us, we just want you to dig deeper into your own thoughts and beliefs. This book is simply a catalyst for new thought.
