Book excerpt: La contention orthodontique, malgré son importance capitale, n'est aujourd'hui pas toujours parfaitement maîtrisée. Pour limiter le risque de récidive, un système de contention très couramment utilisé à la mandibule est constitué d'un fil en acier tressé, collé sur toutes les dents de 33 à 43, il s'agit du "3-3" ou "6 dents" mandibulaires. Cependant, des échecs cliniques de collage sont observés. Ce travail a mis au point un essai in vitro, reproductible, permettant de tester la résistance à la traction des composites, dans le cas du collage de contentions orthodontiques sur la face linguale des incisives mandibulaires. Ce modèle, simple à mettre en oeuvre, permet de représenter les contraintes de cisaillement dans le composite, et, en variant la surface de collage, les contraintes de décollement à l'interface dent / composite. Il est donc adapté à l'étude des différents facteurs de dégradation des contentions collées.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cette revue systématique de la littérature vise à rassembler les études in vitro réalisées à propos des contentions orthodontiques fixes. Ceci afin de connaître les protocoles cliniques et / ou les combinaisons de matériaux les plus efficaces en terme d’adhésion. Une recherche systématique a été conduite sur la base de recherche PubMed en utilisant les termes « orthodontic retainers » et « lingual fixed retainers ». Tous les essais mécaniques in vitro de rupture ont été conservés, quel que soit leur schéma expérimental, afin d’avoir une vue d’ensemble exhaustive des qualités mécaniques en terme d’adhérence des différents protocoles de collages étudiés et des différentes combinaisons de matériaux. Du fait d’une grande hétérogénéité des études, une réduction d’éligibilité afin de réaliser une méta-analyse quantitative n’a pas pu être réalisée. 928 articles ont été identifiés, 42 résumés ont été passés en revue, 24 articles ont été lus intégralement et 11 ont été inclus pour l’analyse descriptive. Les critères de jugement primaires n’ont pas permis de réaliser une analyse statistique. L’analyse qualitative des articles suggère qu’il est préférable d’utiliser un composite moyennement chargé, spécifique au collage des contentions. Les fils multibrins d’un diamètre situé aux alentours de .020 inches semblent représenter le gold standard concernant les dispositifs de contention. Concernant les critères secondaires, l’interface faible de notre système de collage de la contention orthodontique semble se situer au niveau de la liaison entre le dispositif de contention et la résine de collage. Cette revue systématique de la littérature nous permet de dégager certaines hypothèses qui ne pourront être validées que par une comparaison clinique bien contrôlée. Une standardisation des procédures de collage et de décollement dans les études in vitro sera nécessaire afin de valider statistiquement les comparaisons entre les études, ceci afin de mieux appréhender le choix de la combinaison fil – composite la plus efficace en terme d’adhérence.

They specify assumptions that ensure the global existence of its solutions and allow them to derive its asymptotics at temporal infinity. They demonstrate that these assumptions are optimal in a suitable sense and more general than those used before. The evolution equation derives from the Brocket-Wegner flow that was proposed to diagonalize matrices and operators by a strongly continuous unitary flow. In fact, the solution of the non-linear flow equation leads to a diagonalization of Hamiltonian operators in boson quantum field theory which are quadratic in the field.

Book excerpt: In this paper, the authors study the direct and inverse scattering theory at fixed energy for massless charged Dirac fields evolving in the exterior region of a Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black hole. In the first part, they establish the existence and asymptotic completeness of time-dependent wave operators associated to our Dirac fields. This leads to the definition of the time-dependent scattering operator that encodes the far-field behavior (with respect to a stationary observer) in the asymptotic regions of the black hole: the event and cosmological horizons. The authors also use the miraculous property (quoting Chandrasekhar)—that the Dirac equation can be separated into radial and angular ordinary differential equations—to make the link between the time-dependent scattering operator and its stationary counterpart. This leads to a nice expression of the scattering matrix at fixed energy in terms of stationary solutions of the system of separated equations. In a second part, the authors use this expression of the scattering matrix to study the uniqueness property in the associated inverse scattering problem at fixed energy. Using essentially the particular form of the angular equation (that can be solved explicitly by Frobenius method) and the Complex Angular Momentum technique on the radial equation, the authors are finally able to determine uniquely the metric of the black hole from the knowledge of the scattering matrix at a fixed energy.
