Book excerpt: Alongside Picasso and Warhol, Joan Miró (1893-1983) is one of the twentieth century's most influential artists. Miró created a pictorial world of intense imaginative power, in which visionary and cosmic elements are inextricably intertwined with the earthly and mundane. The research for this six-volume catalogue raisonné of Miró's paintings, spanning the years 1908 to 1981, was begun in 1957. The artist himself and later the Miró Estate were largely involved in its preparation--Jacques Dupin, Ariane Lelong-Mainaud and Joan Punyet Miró. The catalogue includes all the artist's oils, acrylics and works in various media--on canvas, cardboard, wood, masonite, copper and other hard supports. In the six volumes--all published only in English--all paintings are reproduced in color, whenever possible, accompanied by their title, date, technique and dimensions, with indication of signature and inscriptions on the back, as well as their collection, provenance, important exhibitions and major publications in which they are reproduced.

Book excerpt: The catalogue raisonné of Miró’s ceramical work is a sequel to the four volume catalogue of his prints and the six volumes of his paintings and the volume of his sculptures. It has been produced by Joan Punyet Miró and Joan Gardy Artigas. It consists of a single volume in English, containing 570 reproductions —most of them in colour— of all Miró’s ceramics, from the first painted vases from 1941, to the final monumental ceramic walls from 1981. All these pieces are unique, always done in stoneware or earthenware, and fired in wood kilns. Comprehensive details are given for each ceramic: title, year of production, medium, materials, dimensions, with indication of signature, owner, provenance, the principal exhibitions it has appeared in and the main publications in which it has been reproduced.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In a career spanning over six decades, the New York art dealer Pierre Matisse (1900-1989) contributed substantially to the advancement of modern art. At his eponymous gallery on East Fifty-seventh Street, he showed several now legendary artists for the first time outside Europe. The collection--paintings, sculpture, and drawings by Balthus, Bonnard, Chagall, Derain, Dubuffet, Giacometti, Magritte, and the dealer's own father, Henri Matisse, among others--was donated to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2004 by the foundation established by his widow. These extraordinary artworks are presented with informative entries addressing the circumstances of each work's creation and the dealer's relationship to the artist. In the introduction, the story of Pierre Matisse's early struggles in New York is told for the first time and illustrated with previously unpublished archival photographs."--Provided by publisher.
