Was ist der Gedanke hinter dieser Einrichtung? Welche Ziele sollen hier verfolgt werden? Wie sieht der rechtliche Rahmen dafür aus? Das sind Fragen, die im Folgenden geklärt werden. Wir haben das Jahr 2022 und sozialpädagogische Einrichtungen erleben, wie auch andere soziale Bereiche, eine Art Revolution. In den letzten Jahrzehnten fanden einige gesellschaftliche Wandel statt, die Zeit und die Ereignisse scheinen mit rasanter Geschwindigkeit viele Strukturen umzuwerfen und neu auszurichten. Wir sprechen heute so offen über Themen, wie nie zuvor. Und das findet glücklicherweise auch im sozialen Bereich Anklang. Klient*innen, Betroffene sprechen immer offener über ihre Erfahrungen, die sie in sozialpädagogischen Einrichtungen gesammelt haben. Dabei sind vor allem die negativen Erfahrungen sehr medienwirksam und bringen fachfremde Personen zum Staunen. Das liegt daran, dass der soziale Bereich von Außen als eine in sich stimmige gewaltige Institution wahrgenommen wird, hinter deren Mauern der „gewöhnliche“ Mensch keinen Einblick erhält. Landet man jedoch in dieser Wunderwelt, kann die Fassade schnell bröckeln. Ähnlich ist es auch mit den einzelnen sozialpädagogischen Einrichtungen. Der Fokus dieser Arbeit liegt auf einer besonderen Art von Einrichtung: auf der Mutter-Kind-Einrichtung. Die Entstehungsgeschichte dieser besonderen Einrichtung ist etwas verschwommen, wann genau die erste Einrichtung dieser Art entstanden ist, scheint unklar zu sein. Zunächst waren Mutter-Kind-Häuser verhältnismäßig geheim, denn diese wurden von Frauen genutzt, die uneheliche Kinder zur Welt brachten. So verließen sie mitunter ihre Heimatstädte, um ihre Familien nicht zu „beschämen“. Mit den Jahren wandelte sich jedoch das Bild und wir betrachten heute Mutter-Kind-Einrichtungen bzw. Eltern-Kind-Einrichtungen als das, was sie sind: Einrichtungen mit dem Fokus auf der Hilfestellung beim Eltern-Werden.

It finds that while there are obstacles to communication in situations of conflict and dislocation, asylum seekers and refugees are able to ‘make do’ with the technology options available to them in ways which were less constrained than in detention settings. The book also outlines how communication practices during the settlement process focus on learning new technologies, and repairing the disconnections with family members resulting from separation and detention.
