Book excerpt: Forme et processus d'érosion sont étudiés dans deux vallées alpines qui forment les sources du Drac (communes d'Orcières et de Champoléon, Hautes-Alpes, France).En plus de l'inventaire des secteurs touchés par les nombreux aléas et risques (avalanches, crues, coulées de débris, mouvements de terrain), la perception de ces risques par les habitants a été analysée.Mais, pour mieux comprendre le fonctionnement des processus d'érosion et surtout les causes de leur déclenchement, un Système d'Information Géographique (SIG) a été mis en place. Le maximum de paramètres du milieu est pris en compte, grâce à des cartes thématiques (données topographiques, climatiques, lithologiques, biogéographiques). Le croisement de toutes ces données est ensuite effectué pour créer cartes d'aléas et cartes de risques.Une réflexion sur la méthodologie développée a enfin été menée. En effet, le SIG, s'il présente quelques inconvénients, n'en demeure pas moins un outil nécessaire pour traiter en général des problèmes d'aménagement, et en particulier des aléas et risques naturels dans des communes de montagne où l'homme est confronté à de nombreux phénomènes d'érosion.
