Download or read book He Is Mighty To Save written by Vardell Taylor and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-03-29 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the good news of the gospel: Not only can our broken hearts be healed, but they can be turned to joy. My broken heart was turned to joy by Jesus Christ. And my desire to share that discovery has been my main motivation for writing this book. I had never been taught that my decision to follow Christ would actually lead to feeling worthless and fallen. I had never heard that feeling discouraged was normal-even beneficial, and just another temporary step in my progression. I believe there are many Church members who are now inactive simply because they tried and failed, and were not forewarned to expect failure-mistaking initial failure as a sign of eternal failure. To those who have thought, "I know the gospel is a good thing, and great for those who can do it, but apparently it's not for me-I am just too sinful and weak." Those people are exactly who the good news is for.

Download or read book Last Days of the Mighty Mekong written by Brian Eyler and published by Zed Books Ltd.. This book was released on 2019-02-15 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Celebrated for its natural beauty and its abundance of wildlife, the Mekong river runs thousands of miles through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Its basin is home to more than 70 million people and has for centuries been one of the world's richest agricultural areas and a biodynamic wonder. Today, however, it is undergoing profound changes. Development policies, led by a rising China in particular, aim to interconnect the region and urbanize the inhabitants. And a series of dams will harness the river's energy, while also stymieing its natural cycles and cutting off food supplies for swathes of the population. In Last Days of the Mighty Mekong, Brian Eyler travels from the river's headwaters in China to its delta in southern Vietnam to explore its modern evolution. Along the way he meets the region’s diverse peoples, from villagers to community leaders, politicians to policy makers. Through conversations with them he reveals the urgent struggle to save the Mekong and its unique ecosystem.

Book Synopsis Mysteries of the Anointing by : Benny Hinn
Download or read book Mysteries of the Anointing written by Benny Hinn and published by Charisma Media. This book was released on 2022-04-05 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You are not limited to your own human abilities. This book will answer all of your questions about the anointing. It will prepare you to experience the precious touch of God on everything you do. How can some ministers whose personal and spiritual lives are dried up and in shambles still operate in the anointing and continue to minister with power? Pastor Benny Hinn asked this question during a season of personal trial, and his quest led him to an in-depth understanding of the three “rivers,” or types, of anointing in Scripture: 1 John 2:27 (the anointing within you); Acts 1:8 (the anointing upon you); and Isaiah 10 (a global anointing related to building up and destroying nations). In Mysteries of the Anointing, Hinn explores these three types of anointing, sharing personal stories of things he learned firsthand from Kathryn Kuhlman and Oral Roberts, as well as providing biblical and historical examples that illustrate his teachings. Readers will discover: How to detect if the anointing within you is weakening or gone The blessings—and dangers—that can happen when God begins to use you When you’re most vulnerable to demonic attack and what to do about it What hinders the anointing in your life and ministry and what increases it The impact of the anointing around the world and how the church will experience it in greater measure

Book Synopsis One Mighty and Irresistible Tide: The Epic Struggle Over American Immigration, 1924-1965 by : Jia Lynn Yang
Download or read book One Mighty and Irresistible Tide: The Epic Struggle Over American Immigration, 1924-1965 written by Jia Lynn Yang and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2020-05-19 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Zócalo Book Prize Shortlisted for the Arthur Ross Book Award Longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice A "powerful and cogent" (Bethanne Patrick, Washington Post) account of the twentieth-century battle for immigration reform that set the stage for today’s roiling debates. The idea of the United States as a nation of immigrants is at the core of the American narrative. But in 1924, Congress instituted a system of ethnic quotas so stringent that it choked off large-scale immigration for decades, sharply curtailing arrivals from southern and eastern Europe and outright banning those from nearly all of Asia. In a riveting narrative filled with a fascinating cast of characters, from the indefatigable congressman Emanuel Celler and senator Herbert Lehman to the bull-headed Nevada senator Pat McCarran, Jia Lynn Yang recounts how lawmakers, activists, and presidents from Truman through LBJ worked relentlessly to abolish the 1924 law. Through a world war, a refugee crisis after the Holocaust, and a McCarthyist fever, a coalition of lawmakers and activists descended from Jewish, Irish, and Japanese immigrants fought to establish a new principle of equality in the American immigration system. Their crowning achievement, the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, proved to be one of the most transformative laws in the country’s history, opening the door to nonwhite migration at levels never seen before—and changing America in ways that those who debated it could hardly have imagined. Framed movingly by her own family’s story of immigration to America, Yang’s One Mighty and Irresistible Tide is a deeply researched and illuminating work of history, one that shows how Americans have strived and struggled to live up to the ideal of a home for the “huddled masses,” as promised in Emma Lazarus’s famous poem.

Download or read book What Love Is This? written by Dave Hunt and published by . This book was released on 2007-04-22 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many sincere, Bible-believing Christians are Calvinists only by default. Thinking that the only choice is between Calvinism (with its presumed doctrine of eternal security) and Arminianism (with its teaching that salvation can be lost), and confident of Christ's promise to keep eternally those who believe in Him, they therefore consider themselves to be Calvinists. It takes only a few simple questions to discover that most Christians are largely unaware of what John Calvin and his early followers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries actually believed and practiced. Nor do they fully understand what most of today's leading Calvinists believe. Although there are disputed variations of the Calvinist doctrine, among its chief proponents (whom we quote extensively in context) there is general agreement on certain core beliefs. Many evangelicals who think they are Calvinists will be surprised to learn of Calvin's belief in salvation through infant baptism and of his grossly un-Christian behavior, at times, as the "Protestant Pope" of Geneva, Switzerland. Most shocking of all, however, is Calvinism's misrepresentation of God, who "is love." It is our prayer that this volume will enable readers to examine more carefully the vital issues involved and to follow God's holy Word--not man's teachings. "The first edition of this book was greeted by fervent opposition and criticism from Calvinists. In this enlarged and revised edition I have endeavored to respond to the critics." --Dave Hunt

Download or read book Gay Girl, Good God written by Jackie Hill Perry and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I used to be a lesbian.” In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.
