Book excerpt: Scientific Study from the year 2021 in the subject Engineering - Communication Technology, , course: M. Tech, language: English, abstract: Microstrip patch antenna is used to send onboard parameters of article to the ground while under operating conditions. By the study of this book we find out how to investigate a new method of teaching microstrip patch antenna design for undergraduate students by using MATLAB. Effect of changes in basic parameter microstrip patch antenna on its radiation pattern and other parameters to study the effect of resonant frequency and substrate parameters like, relative dielectric constant, substrate thickness on the radiation parameters of bandwidth and physical dimension of the microstrip patch antenna can be determined by using GUI. In this book we develops simple CAD (GUI) formulas that describe the basic properties of microstrip patch antenna using MATLAB. By the usage of this teaching tool we can analyze the behaviour of the microstrip patch antenna and design of it for different material. Satellite communication and wireless communication has been developed rapidly in the past decades and it has already a dramatic impact on human life. In the last few years, the development of wireless local area networks (WLAN) represented one of the principal interests in the information and communication field. Thus, the current trend in commercial and government communication systems has been to develop low cost, minimal weight, low profile antennas that are capable of maintaining high performance over a large spectrum of frequencies. This technological trend has focused much effort into the design of microstrip (patch) antennas. The variety in design that is possible with microstrip antenna probably exceeds that of any other type of antenna element. In addition, once the shape and operating mode of the patch are selected, designs become very versatile in terms of operating frequency, polarization, pattern, and impedance. They are extremely low profile, lightweight, simple and inexpensive to fabricate using modern day printed circuit board technology, compatible with microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits (MMIC), and have the ability to conform to planar and non planar surfaces.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Do you want to design a wireless transmitter or receiver for hand-held telephones? Have you wondered why the printed circuit wires on high-frequency circuits don't always run in a straight line? This valuable text will answer all of your questions regarding component parasitics and circuit characterization for rf/microwave amplifier, oscillator, and filter circuit design and analysis. You will understand why capacitors act as inductors and vice versa and why amplifiers work like oscillators, while oscillators for local area networks work more like local area heaters. Application of the information in Introduction to Microwave Circuits will reduce design-cycle time and costs, markedly increasing the probability of first-time success in printed circuit or monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) design. Several approaches are taken into consideration, such as the effects of currents on the ground plane, bypass and coupling capacitors, and nonlinear effects in linear circuits. Featured topics include: * Incorporation of component parasitics in the design cycle * Closed form solution to oscillator design * Odd mode stability analysis * PIN diode analysis for high-power switching applications An integrated design example of a 1.25 GHz amplifier, oscillator, and filter printed circuit is also included, which could be useful in printed circuit board designs from tens of megahertz to tens of gigahertz. Introduction to Microwave Circuits provides the tools necessary to analyze or synthesize microwave circuits. This text is an essential reference for undergraduate students, microwave engineers, and administrators. Also, it will assist experienced designers in other fields to meet the current rapid expansion of communication system applications and work effectively in microwave circuit design. About the Author Robert J. Weber began his prolific career in the Solid State Research Laboratory at the Collins Radio Company, later a part of Rockwell International. For 25 years, he worked on advanced development and applied research in the one- to ten-gigahertz frequency range and received several distinguished awards for his valuable contributions to the field. Dr. Weber is involved in ongoing experimental research in integrating microwave circuits with other devices such as MEMS, chemical sensors, and electro-optics. Also, he teaches microwave circuit design and fiber-optics communications at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Iowa State University. Dr. Weber is an IEEE Fellow." Until now there has been no up-to-date text available in this area. Current titles in this field are considered outdated and tend to focus on analysis, failing to adequately address design and measurement aspects. Giannini and Leuzzi provide the theoretical background to non-linear microwave circuits before going on to discuss the practical design and measurement of non-linear circuits and components. Non-linear Microwave Circuit Design reviews all of the established analysis and characterisation techniques available and provides detailed coverage of key modelling methods. Practical examples are used throughout the text to emphasise the design and application focus of the book. * Provides a unique, design-focused, coverage of non-linear microwave circuits * Covers the fundamental properties of nonlinear circuits and methods for device modelling * Outlines non-linear measurement techniques and characterisation of active devices * Reviews available design methodologies for non-linear power amplifiers and details advanced software modelling tools * Provides the first detailed treatment of non-linear frequency multipliers, mixers and oscillators * Focuses on the application potential of non-linear components Practicing engineers and circuit designers working in microwave and communications engineering and designing new applications, as well as senior undergraduates, graduate students and researchers in microwave and communications engineering and their libraries will find this a highly rewarding read.

Book excerpt: The growth in RF and wireless/mobile computing devices that operate at microwave frequencies has resulted in explosive demand for integrated circuits capable of operating at such frequencies in order to accomplish functions like frequency division, phase shifting, attenuation, and isolators and circulators for antennas. This book is an introduction to such ICs, combining theory and practical applications of those devices. In addition to this combined theory and application approach, the author discusses the critical importance of differing fabrication materials on the performance of ICs at different frequencies. This is an area often overlooked when choosing ICs for RF and microwave applications, yet it can be a crucial factor in how an IC performs in a given application. Gives reader a solid background in an increasingly important area of circuit design Emphasis on combination of theoretical discussions with practical application examples In-depth discussion of critical, but often overlooked topic of different fabrication material performances at varying frequencies
