This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Silicon chip technology; microprocessor technology; information technology; or quite simply new technology. These are some of the names representing the microelectronics revolution depending upon the audience being addressed by speaker or writer. No previous new industrial development has caused such widespread publicity and discussion amongst users and researchers as the new technology. Concern is being expressed about the effects of new technology on employment, job satisfaction, social life, leisure activities and the economics of commerce and industry. The late 70s saw many doom-laden predictions of those effects but by 1983 both management and trade unions were taking a more objective view of the social and economic impacts, and many correspondents now see the new technology as a means of opening up new industries and overcoming the effects of world recessions. The "chip" has involved the factory floor, the office, the supermarket and the home. Electronic funds transfer, electronic shopping, microelectronic domestic appliances, word processors and microprocessor-controlled machinery mean that the new technology has pervaded all aspects of social and economic life, and the developed countries are now coming to accept it as part of society as a whole. Inevitably the flood of literature on the social and economic impacts of new technology has been overwhelming. Unfortunately the quality of information and arguments propagated at conferences, in journal papers and research reports has indicated that there has been little quantifiable evidence available on the effects of these impacts.

Book Synopsis The Economics of Information Technology by : Hal R. Varian
Download or read book The Economics of Information Technology written by Hal R. Varian and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-12-23 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Economics of Information Technology is a concise and accessible review of some of the important economic factors affecting information technology industries. These industries are characterized by high fixed costs and low marginal costs of production, large switching costs for users, and strong network effects. These factors combine to produce some unique behavior. The book consists of two parts. In the first part, Professor Varian outlines the basic economics of these industries. In the second part, Professors Farrell and Shapiro describe the impact of these factors on competition policy. The clarity of the analysis and exposition makes this an ideal introduction for undergraduate and graduate students in economics, business strategy, law and related areas.

Book Synopsis Machine Learning Techniques for VLSI Chip Design by : Abhishek Kumar
Download or read book Machine Learning Techniques for VLSI Chip Design written by Abhishek Kumar and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2023-06-26 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES FOR VLSI CHIP DESIGN This cutting-edge new volume covers the hardware architecture implementation, the software implementation approach, the efficient hardware of machine learning applications with FPGA or CMOS circuits, and many other aspects and applications of machine learning techniques for VLSI chip design. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have, or will have, an impact on almost every aspect of our lives and every device that we own. AI has benefitted every industry in terms of computational speeds, accurate decision prediction, efficient machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) algorithms. The VLSI industry uses the electronic design automation tool (EDA), and the integration with ML helps in reducing design time and cost of production. Finding defects, bugs, and hardware Trojans in the design with ML or DL can save losses during production. Constraints to ML-DL arise when having to deal with a large set of training datasets. This book covers the learning algorithm for floor planning, routing, mask fabrication, and implementation of the computational architecture for ML-DL. The future aspect of the ML-DL algorithm is to be available in the format of an integrated circuit (IC). A user can upgrade to the new algorithm by replacing an IC. This new book mainly deals with the adaption of computation blocks like hardware accelerators and novel nano-material for them based upon their application and to create a smart solution. This exciting new volume is an invaluable reference for beginners as well as engineers, scientists, researchers, and other professionals working in the area of VLSI architecture development.
