Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conventional Energy in North America: Current and Future Sources for Electricity Generation provides in-depth information on the current state of conventional energy sources used for electricity generation in the United States and Canada. As energy is a major force of civilization, determining, to a high degree, the level of economic and social development, this book provides relevant information and a deep analysis regarding the main problems associated with the use of fossil fuels for the generation of electricity in both countries. Finally, the book offers guidance for countries seeking to expand their use of conventional energy sources for electricity generation. Users in government, energy experts, economists, politicians, academics, scientific institutions and universities, international organizations and the private and public power industry will find this book to be a great reference on what type of conventional energy sources should be used for electricity generation with the aim of reducing the emission of CO2 and other contaminated gases to the atmosphere. - Includes comprehensive information on the different types of conventional energy sources available in the USA and Canada, including their impact on climate, level of energy reserves, and levels of production and consumption - Covers the pros and cons of each type of conventional energy source for electricity generation - Features an analysis of what types of conventional energy sources should be used for future electricity generation in the USA and Canada, with the aim of reducing the emission of CO2 and other contaminated gas to the atmosphere

Book Synopsis Potential of Nuclear Explosives for Producing Hydrocarbons from Deposits of Oil, Natural Gas, Oil Shale, and Tar Sands in the United States by : J. Wade Watkins
Download or read book Potential of Nuclear Explosives for Producing Hydrocarbons from Deposits of Oil, Natural Gas, Oil Shale, and Tar Sands in the United States written by J. Wade Watkins and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The appreciable difference between producible proved reserves and ultimate reserves and resources of hydrocarbon deposits is of such magnitude that much petroleum, natural gas, shale oil, and bitumen will not be produced unless significant technological progress is made in production techniques. The shattering effect of contained nuclear explosives and, to a lesser extent, the heat produced, have been considered as stimulative forces when the thickness, depth, and nature of such deposits permit considering the use of nuclear devices. The technical feasibility of using nuclear explosives cannot be evaluated fully at present. Additional information is needed on the effects of pressure, heat, and radioactivity on the solids and fluids of hydrocarbon deposits, the nature and extent of induced fractures in different rock media, and the possibility of isolating and confining or removing radioactive contaminants. Final technical feasibility can only be determined by a field test. If technical feasibility is established, economic feasibility will depend upon the comparative cost of producing hydrocarbons by nuclear explosives and by conventional means. It is probable that an economic comparison would favor nuclear stimulation only where devices of relatively high yield could be used practicably and safely. (Author).
Book Synopsis Estimation and Classification of Reserves of Crude Oil, Natural Gas and Condensate by : Chapman Cronquist
Download or read book Estimation and Classification of Reserves of Crude Oil, Natural Gas and Condensate written by Chapman Cronquist and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers all aspects of estimating and classifying reserves of crude oil, natural gas, and condensate attributed to primary recovery mechanisms. Both deterministic and probabilistic procedures are discussed. Reserves definitions for many of the major producing countries are provided, including a comparison of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and Society of Petroleum Engineers-World Petroleum Congress reserves definitions. Case histories illustrate reasons for errors in reserves estimation. Correlation charts and empirical equations to estimate pressure/volume/temperature properties of reservoir fluids are provided in one of several special appendices.
