Book Synopsis Process Theology by : Bruce G. Epperly
Download or read book Process Theology written by Bruce G. Epperly and published by Energion Publications. This book was released on 2014-02-17 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Process theology is considered a very complex and difficult to understand system. Is it possible to get a basic grasp of what it is and how it impacts our lives and service to others? In this brief, lively, and engaging book, Dr. Bruce Epperly untangles the difficult concepts of process theology and shows how we can envision a God who is in relation to us throughout our lives here and in the next world. He believes that “God is present at the moment of our conception, guides us through the adventures of this lifetime, urging us to rejoice in embodiment and bring healing to our world, and upon our final earthly breath receives us with open arms with visions of future adventures in communion with God and our fellow creatures.” Not only is this theology easy to understand, but it also challenges us to live out God’s adventure in with joy, sharing God’s life with all of God’s creatures. This book is an excellent introduction to process theology, useful for small groups or individual study, and includes a list of resources for further study.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FIGHTING AGAINST WESTERN IMPERIALISM compiles ten modified essays that were written during just a few months of the onslaught of the Western imperialism all over the world. Andre Vltchek had traveled the world searching for parallels, similarities; comparing scenarios. He tried to grasp, and then to explain, how the Empire really works, how it selects its targets, which countries it decides to destroy and why? He studied the 'opposition movements' manufactured by Washington and London, and how they get implanted in so many different parts of the world; basically wherever people and their governments still dare to insist on defending their own national interests and choosing their own political as well as economic systems.

Book Synopsis Private Bestiary by : Kendrick Smithyman
Download or read book Private Bestiary written by Kendrick Smithyman and published by . This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By the time he died in 1995, Kendrick Smithyman was regarded as one of New Zealand's most important poets. For decades, though, the uncompromisingly intellectual, relentlessly experimental Smithyman had to endure marginalisation and even ridicule at the hands of conservative editors and critics. Some of Smithyman's work was so far ahead of its time that it can only now hope to find a wide audience. Private Bestiary consists of poems discovered by Scott Hamilton during his exploration of the massive collection of private papers Smithyman bequeathed to the University of Auckland library. These previously-unseen pieces illuminate aspects of Smithyman's life and work that were hitherto obscure, and help us appreciate the extent of his achievement as a writer and a man. Reading Private Bestiary, we discover the young Smithyman protesting passionately about the marginalisation of Maori culture, at a time when most Pakeha intellectuals were oblivious to the subject. We see Smithyman experimenting with surrealism and with the prose poem in the conservative 1950s, when most other Kiwi poems were content to compose in traditional forms and use dowdily 'realistic' imagery. We encounter a series of 1960s poems which mix confessions about Smithyman's troubled personal life with black commentaries on the state of New Zealand society. We discover a number of wild, weirdly fragmented poems that appear to be attempts at a Rimbaud-like 'alchemy of the word'. Scott Hamilton is a social scientist as well as a literary scholar, and the notes he supplies at the back of Private Bestiary explain the historical and political as well as the literary significance of these extraordinary discoveries.
