Download or read book My Big Wimmelbook® - All Aboard the Train!: A Look-and-Find Book (Kids Tell the Story) (My Big Wimmelbooks) written by Stefan Lohr and published by The Experiment, LLC. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My Big Wimmelbooks let kids ages 2 to 5 be the storytellers with hours of seek-and-find hands-on learning—and fun! In these one-of-a-kind picture books, every page is bursting with life—and tons to discover! Children as young as age 2 have a blast pointing out recognizable things—a blue tricycle, a hungry dog, a piggyback ride—while older kids can follow the star characters from page to page, telling their stories along the way. How? Wimmelbooks are virtually instruction-free, inviting kids to make their own way through the busy Wimmelworld they encounter, and to craft their own stories. First, you’re introduced to a unique cast of characters who are hidden in plain sight on the pages that follow. As you seek them out, each character’s storyline unfolds, but it’s up to kids to interpret the scenes and create stories they think fit. It’s hours upon hours of fun—and an effortless introduction to literacy to boot. My Big Wimmelbook—All Aboard the Train! takes kids on a few fun train rides as a busy cast of characters go on journeys from Wimmeltown Train Station to their final destinations. From boarding the crowded platform to wandering through the aisles upon aisles of train cars, watching the pretty scenery, and more—plenty of interesting things are happening along the way. All aboard! About Wimmelbooks Wimmelbooks originated in Germany decades ago and have become a worldwide sensation with children (and adults!) everywhere. My Big Wimmelbooks is the first-ever Wimmelbook series to feature Wimmelbooks as Wimmelbooks in English. They’ve been praised as “lively . . . and abounding with humor and detail” (WSJ), likely to “make any parent’s heart sing.” (NYT)
Book Synopsis The Meaning of Particle/prefix Constructions in German by : Robert B. Dewell
Download or read book The Meaning of Particle/prefix Constructions in German written by Robert B. Dewell and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is really two books in one: a valuable reference resource, and a groundbreaking case study that represents a new approach to constructional semantics. It presents a detailed descriptive survey, using extensive examples collected from the Internet, of German verb constructions in which the expressions durch ('through'), über ('over'), unter ('under'), and um ('around') occur either as inseparable verb prefixes or as separable verb particles. Based on that evidence, the author argues that the prefixed verb constructions and particle verb constructions themselves have meaning, and that this meaning involves subjective construal processes rather than objective information. The constructions prompt us to distribute focal attention according to patterns that can be articulated in terms of Talmy's notion of perspectival modes. Among the other topics that play an important role in the analysis are incremental themes, reflexive trajectors, fictive motion, multi-directional paths, and accusative landmarks.

Book Synopsis Narrative Concepts in the Study of Eighteenth-century Literature by : Liisa Steinby
Download or read book Narrative Concepts in the Study of Eighteenth-century Literature written by Liisa Steinby and published by Crossing Boundaries: Turku Medieval and Early Modern Studies. This book was released on 2017 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays studies the encounter between allegedly ahistorical concepts of narratology and eighteenth-century literature. It questions whether the general concepts of narratology are as such applicable to historically specific fields, or whether they need further specification. Furthermore, at issue is the question whether the theoretical concepts actually are, despite their appearance of ahistorical generality, derived from the historical study of a particular period and type of literature. In the essays such concepts as genre, plot, character, event, tellability, perspective, temporality, description, reading, metadiegetic narration, and paratext are scrutinized in the context of eighteenth-century texts. The writers include some of the leading theorists of both narratology and eighteenth-century literature.

Book Synopsis Spinoza's Modernity by : Willi Goetschel
Download or read book Spinoza's Modernity written by Willi Goetschel and published by Univ of Wisconsin Press. This book was released on 2004-01-15 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spinoza’s Modernity is a major, original work of intellectual history that reassesses the philosophical project of Baruch Spinoza, uncovers his influence on later thinkers, and demonstrates how that crucial influence on Moses Mendelssohn, G. E. Lessing, and Heinrich Heine shaped the development of modern critical thought. Excommunicated by his Jewish community, Spinoza was a controversial figure in his lifetime and for centuries afterward. Willi Goetschel shows how Spinoza’s philosophy was a direct challenge to the theological and metaphysical assumptions of modern European thought. He locates the driving force of this challenge in Spinoza’s Jewishness, which is deeply inscribed in his philosophy and defines the radical nature of his modernity.
