Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abigail was an Arabian horse breeder known for being able to choose future champions for her clients. People from all over the world sought her out. She had business success, influence, and many friends. But were they her real friends, or did were they get close to her for sinister reasons? The deeper she went into the world of horse shows, the more she learned about lust for fame and glory and the pursuit of it at any cost. She was a woman who never remained silent in the face of injustice and wrongdoing, but she soon learned that there was a price to pay for her virtue. Out of nowhere, she met her Middle Eastern paramour. Abigail was a Christian; Abdul was a Muslim. He was a man that shared her love for horses and saw through the evil intentions of those that would use her. He protected her and stood with her against the twisted intentions of those around her. She grew to trust him more than life itself. Inspired by true events, The Journey of the Christian Woman and the Muslim Man is an emotionally wrenching story of love and trust lost in savage betrayal.

Book Synopsis Insurgent Crossfire by : Subir Bhaumik
Download or read book Insurgent Crossfire written by Subir Bhaumik and published by Lancer Publishers. This book was released on 1996 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the British withdrew from the subcontinent, nations in the region have been at war with each other. But instead of fighting long-drawnout wars like that between Iran and Iraq, nations of South Asia have sponsored guerrilla armies and armed, trained and equipped them to harass, bleed or embarrass their rivals. The four wars in the region’s post-colonial era were also born out of sponsored guerrilla wars. In 1948 and 1965, Pakistan first tried to have its way in Kashmir by sponsoring irregulars on a large scale and then followed it up with unsuccessful military campaigns aimed at ensuring the state’s secession from India. In 1962, China attacked India not so much over a disputed border or India’s much publicized Forward Policy but essentially in response to what it felt was a joint Indo-US covert effort in Tibet. In 1971 India rounded off its successful sponsorship of the Bengali guerrilla struggle in erstwhile East Pakistan by a speedy military campaign that resulted in the break up of Pakistan. Insurgent Crossfire examines the origins of sponsored insurgencies and how they have shaped South Asia’s tense diplomatic environment. Having done that, it studies the major sponsored guerrilla campaigns in South Asia and then seeks a detailed case study of the phenomenon by focusing on the far eastern slice of the subcontinent. The author argues that this region, with its multitude of tribes and battling ethnicities, has been the most durable theatre of insurgent crossfire – in which nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China (a major actor in South Asian politics) have backed insurgencies against each other.

Book Synopsis Mixed Methods Research in Language Teaching and Learning by : A. Mehdi Riazi
Download or read book Mixed Methods Research in Language Teaching and Learning written by A. Mehdi Riazi and published by Equinox Publishing (UK). This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mixed methods research (MMR), where quantitative and qualitative methods are combined in the collecting and analysing of research data, is gaining increasing prominence and utility across a range of academic disciplines including applied linguistics and language teaching and learning. This volume is the first to examine MMR in language teaching and learning and how such a methodology works in practice. The book brings together all the main topics related to MMR in one place and attempts to elaborate on and discuss them in plain language to help researchers better understand and use the methodology. In addition to detailed discussion of the theoretical (for example, the worldviews underlying MMR) and practical (purposes, designs, data collection and analysis), the book presents a framework for analyzing MMR (FRAMMR) studies. In the third section of the book where FRAMMR is presented, eight published MMR articles addressing different topics in language teaching and learning are analysed and eight more are suggested to be analysed by the readers using FRAMMR. Another salient feature of the book is Chapter 7 in which writing MMR proposals is discussed. The chapter should be of particular interest to postgraduate and doctoral students as well as early career researchers who will be preparing thesis and/or research proposals. Given the scarcity of resources on MMR in applied linguistics in general, and language teaching and learning in particular, the current volume can fill this gap to a great extent. Attempt has been made to present a coherent and transparent discussion of sometimes confusing MMR issues and topics. As a newly developed research methodology, MMR poses its own challenges to researchers. These challenges are also discussed in different chapters of the book so that researchers can consider them when planning for and implementing MMR projects.
