This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book Synopsis Mediation in International Commercial and Investment Disputes by : Catharine Titi
Download or read book Mediation in International Commercial and Investment Disputes written by Catharine Titi and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2019 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now, the resolution of international commercial and investment disputes has been dominated almost exclusively by international arbitration. But that is changing. Whilst they may be complementary mechanisms, international mediation and conciliation are now coming to the fore. Mediation rules that were in disuse gather momentum, and dispute settlement centres are introducing new mediation rules. The European Union is encouraging international mediation in both the commercial and investment spheres. The 2019 Singapore Mediation Convention of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) is aiming to ensure enforcement of international commercial settlement agreements resulting from mediation. The first investor-State disputes are mediated under the International Bar Association (IBA) rules. The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)'s conciliation mechanism is resorted to more often than in the past. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has recently administered its first mediation case based on a bilateral investment treaty, and a new training market on mediation is flourishing. Mediation in Commercial and Investment Disputes brings together a line-up of outstanding, highly-qualified experts from academia, mediation and arbitration institutions, and international legal practice, to address this highly topical, complex subject from a variety of angles.

Book Synopsis Diritto della mediazione civile e commerciale by : Marco Marinaro
Download or read book Diritto della mediazione civile e commerciale written by Marco Marinaro and published by Gruppo 24 Ore. This book was released on 2023-06-30T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Imagined Immigrant by : Ilaria Serra
Download or read book The Imagined Immigrant written by Ilaria Serra and published by Fairleigh Dickinson Univ Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using original sources--such as newspaper articles, silent movies, letters, autobiographies, and interviews--Ilaria Serra depicts a large tapestry of images that accompanied mass Italian migration to the U.S. at the turn of the twentieth century. She chooses to translate the Italian concept of immaginario with the Latin imago that felicitously blends the double English translation of the word as "imagery" and "imaginary." Imago is a complex knot of collective representations of the immigrant subject, a mental production that finds concrete expression; impalpable, yet real. The "imagined immigrant" walks alongside the real one in flesh and rags.
Book Synopsis Italian Psychology and Jewish Emigration under Fascism by : Patrizia Guarnieri
Download or read book Italian Psychology and Jewish Emigration under Fascism written by Patrizia Guarnieri and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fascism and the racial laws of 1938 dramatically changed the scientific research and the academic community. Guarnieri focuses on psychology, from its promising origins to the end of the WWII. Psychology was marginalized in Italy both by the neo-idealistic reaction against science, and fascism (unlike Nazism) with long- lasting consequences. Academics and young scholars were persecuted because they were antifascist or Jews and the story of Italian displaced scholars is still an embarrassing one. The book follows scholars who emigrated to the United States, such as psychologist Renata Calabresi, and to Palestine, such as Enzo Bonaventura. Guarnieri traces their journey and the help they received from antifascist and Zionist networks and by international organizations. Some succeeded, some did not, and very few went back.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Roma Tre Law Review” is a law review sponsored by the Department of Law of the University of Roma Tre. It is not focused on a specific topic or a set of issues, but it is aimed at surveying transversally – and from an interdisciplinary perspective – the national and trans-national legal landscape. Its main aim is to promote the diffusion of the Italian legal culture, and namely the type of scholarship produced at Roma Tre, abroad, as well as to investigate the development of the law in several fields and places from an Italian and European viewpoint. Accordingly, the review will host contributions ideally characterized by a specific set of features, and namely by their openness to comparative, historical, and interdisciplinary perspectives on all legal issues of not strictly local concern.
Book Synopsis Marriage, the Church, and its Judges in Renaissance Venice, 1420-1545 by : Cecilia Cristellon
Download or read book Marriage, the Church, and its Judges in Renaissance Venice, 1420-1545 written by Cecilia Cristellon and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-21 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the actions of marriage tribunals by analyzing the richest source of marriage suits extant in Italy, those of the Venetian ecclesiastical tribunal, between 1420 and the opening of the Council of Trent. It offers a strongly representative overview of the changes the Council introduced to centuries-old marriage practices, relegating it to the realm of marginality and deviance and nearly erasing the memory of it altogether. From the eleventh century onward, the Church assured itself of a jurisdictional monopoly over the matter of marriage, operating both in concert and in conflict with secular authorities by virtue of marriage’s civil consequences, the first of which regarded the legitimacy of children. Secular tribunals were responsible for patrimonial matters between spouses, though the Church at times inserted itself into these matters either directly, by substituting itself for the secular authority, or indirectly, by influencing Rulings through their own sentences. Lay magistratures, for their part, somewhat eroded the authority of ecclesiastical tribunals by continuing to exercise autonomous jurisdiction over marriage, especially regarding separation and crimes strictly connected to the nuptial bond and its definition, including adultery, bigamy, and rape.
