Cette approche doit être reflétée par les médias qui doivent permettre de perpétuer la sensibilité aux conflits et la résolution de ces mêmes conflits. Ces questions, et bien d'autres encore, ont été abordées à la sixième rencontre annuelle du Réseau international des chaires UNESCO en communication (ORBICOM) sous le thème de Journalisme pour la paix et résolution de conflit dans les médias. Les objectifs de la rencontre annuelle étaient les suivants : 1) Identifier et analyser les conflits culturels et communicationnels à l'échelle de la planète, tels qu'ils sont reflétés dans les différents médias ; 2) Comprendre l'histoire, les contextes et les raisons qui sous-tendent ces conflits et 3) Elaborer des solutions de communication transculturelle et interculturelle pour résoudre les conflits à l'échelle locale, nationale et internationale. A l'initiative de la Faculté des Sciences de la Communication de l'Universitas Pancasila, à Jakarta en Indonésie, la sixième rencontre annuelle des membres du Réseau ORBICOM a réuni 69 conférenciers venant de 29 pays et regroupé plus de 200 participants.

The non-consensual actions related to these conflicts and imperatives of power struggles supported by the agents of savage capitalism have paralysed efforts toward progress.
