Un chapitre entier est ensuite consacré à l'étude précise de l'orbite géostationnaire comprenant sa définition mais également les stratégies de mise et de maintien à poste. Enfin, les trajectoires interplanétaires sont abordées, notamment l'optimisation du transfert entre la Terre et une autre planète du système solaire, ainsi que l'assistance gravitationnelle.
